Alright guys. First off I would like to state that I would NEVER do this so dont worry. Now, a girl that I work with said that it was stupid to use dish soap and that she only uses laundry detergent...I told her that it was JUST as bad. She doesnt beleive me. I need your guys' thoughts on this so I can show her that it is IN FACT bad for your car. Thanks in advance.

This conversation came about when I told her that one of my other friends told me that I should be proud that she finally washed her car, I asked her what she used and she said dish soap. She is excused because that is what her parnets have always done and she never knew better..I will be doing a proper detail on her car soon.

This was about 5 years before I knew the right way (I was around 12 or 13 at the time), and now she knows the right way.

Re: Laundry detergent!?!?
It might be milder than dishsoap, but there are also the lubrication factors even if it is a lot milder.
But, you really cant change peoples minds easily, other than to park your car next to hers and see if she notices anything.2017 Subaru WRX Premium - WR Blue

Re: Laundry detergent!?!?
Dish soap is made and laundry soap is made for removing greasy marks on plates and deep stains on clothing, plus washing liquid generally contains salt! which dries things out. no matter how often you wax each wash is gonna take that protection away. plus a waxed car is much easier and quicker to wash.
If needs be DEMO TIME, wash and wax the bonnet then re-wash half with Megs and the other with what she useds and see what beading there is and show her which side is easier to dry.
Hope this is useful, Christian

Re: Laundry detergent!?!?
Could be worse..... she could be putting the car in the dryer after using the laundry detergent to wash it. That tumbling action is even worse on the paint if you ask me.Michael Stoops
