  • what to use

    hi MIKE
hi to all of you guys. well i'm new to detailing but i let someone do my detailing. just want to ask when can i apply nxt wax after using colorx? can i use colorx then apply nxt wax immediately? is it also possible to use colorx followed by gold class than nxt wax? before i forget, i am from the philippines and i purchase my meguiars product directly from the USA since it"s much cheaper to buy there than here.

    Hi conmd,

First welcome to the Meguiar's Online Discussion forums, especially since your all the way in the Phillipines!

    Second, answers to your questions.

You can apply NXT Tech Wax immediately after removing the ColorX. This is a good combo as your basically using the ColorX as a paint cleaner, while leaving some protection behind.

If you want, you can use ColorX first as your paint cleaner, Gold Class as your polish, (it's actually a polish/wax), and then top it with NXT Tech Wax for your last step product.

While some people may think of this as overkill, hey... it's all about the passion and what looks good in your eyes.

      Not a bad combo Mike...

        very excited

hi guys and especially to mike. just read your reply and just the thought of using COLORX followed by gold class wax then topping it with nxt wax brings so much excitement to try that combination since the package just arrived from the US of A. can't wait to try it. how often can i use this combination? can i use it twice a month or once a month. from my car care Rx i can use gold class and deep crystal polish at least once a month. i also have my nxt tech spray. if i try this combo(COLORX then gold class wax then nxt tech wax) can i use them immediately after the other or do i have to wait for a day or 2 to try the next product?
        tnx.

Not sure about Color-X, but I would wait at least 24 hrs between GC & NXT applications.

            detail on march 8

            hi mike
just talked to my detailer and got my schedule on march 8. will it be better if i use the COLORX with an orbital buffer than by hand? do i also have to use an orbital buffer with gold class wax and nxt gen wax? my detailer is an accredited meguiar's detailer. it's like we'll be starting the detailing without step 1 (use of rubbing solution) cause my real problem with my car are the swirl/water marks and some light scratches. will these problems be removed with simple hand waxing/buffing/polishing?
            tnx

Typically, you will get better results when you apply your products by machine. Machine don't get tired, (like your hand, arms, shoulders, etc), and do a better job of thoroughly applying an even coating. Removal of a machine applied product i often easier too.

do i also have to use an orbital buffer with gold class wax and nxt gen wax?
No. Both of these products can be applied and removed by machine.

my detailer is an accredited Meguiar’s detailer. It’s like we'll be starting the detailing without step 1 (use of rubbing solution) cause my real problem with my car are the swirl/water marks and some light scratches.
If your detailer is an accredited Meguiar's detailer, he will be able to evaluate your surface and recommend the correct repair products and procedures. Your description sounds like you'll need to use either a cleaner/polish like #83 Dual Action Cleaner Polish, or a Paint Cleaner, like Medallion Premium Paint Cleaner in order to remove the defects.

Your detailer should have the training and experience to determine this. He can also do a Test Spot which means he will test some products in one small area and then check his results to see if his choice of products and application method and material are getting the job done.

Meguiar's always says, "Use the least aggressive product to get the job done"

If his first products of choice are not aggressive enough, he can always substitute a more aggressive product and test again. At some point, he should be able to come up with a combination of products that will remove the defects and produce a swirl-free flawless finish. He can then show you which product to use, how to apply them and how often to apply them to maintain the resulting finish.

Restoring a finish to show room new condition is the hard part, maintaining a show room new finish is the easy part as long as you stick to a regular maintenance plan. It' when you let your car go for extended periods of time that the finish as well as other components made from rubber, plastic, vinyl etc tend to deteriorate.

As Barry always says, "Frequent car care is easy car care"

[B][QUOTE] will these problems be removed with simple hand waxing/buffing/polishing?[B][QUOTE]
See above, but the short answer is typically no. It depends on the severity of the defect, in your case swirls and scratches and often times, paint hardness. Your detailer can tell you more after trying a couple of different combinations of products on your paint type.

              tnx
