  • 3M Scotchgard Paint Protection Film Care

I had 3M clear film put on the front of my 2007 Escalade. It has served me well here in the Northeast. It now has some surface blemishes, scratches, swirls, etc. not unlike the uncovered paint surfaces. Does anyone have any experience with this product? I know you can wax over it but how do you get the surface clear of swirls? What do I use?
    Thanks.

I went to get these 3M film installed on my CLK the 2nd day I picked up my car from the dealership. Then I was so impressed that after a few months. I installed them on the front part of the roof (like 12 inches) as well as the side mirrors.

I maintain these films the same way I do with the rest of the car; wash, clay, clean, polish, wax....

My car is 4.5 years old now and I replaced all these films back in Nov last year.

i am not familiar with this over here but assume its the clear plastic film to protect from stone chips there isnt much you can do if the swirls are above surface as you cant really use anything aggressive on these or it may damage the film, you would need some thing heavy in fillers, a good wax or there are other products that could help the situation.

What polish product? I'm told if it's too aggresive you can hurt the film.
        Thanks.

My 3M film installer gave me a bottle of 3M Plastic Cleaner. On the label, it says

          "For Clear and Coloured Plastics
Removes fine scratches , stains or haziness"

From the instruction, it says "To further enhance the finish, follow with 3M Plastic Polish.".

I will try the Cleaner this summer. However, I will not get the 3M Polish but use DC2 instead.
