  • #3 Machine Glaze

    It's a simple question.
I have a rotary and been working more and more with it each time I have opportunity, I mainly use it for paint correction and some polishing and use my G110 for that finishing perfect touch but since #3 can be used with a rotary I would like to try it.

What speed should I use with #3 and a finishing pad?
Will I notice a difference applying #3 with a rotary compared to the G110?

I mainly use #3 with the G110 but I would like to try it on my hood with the rotary to experiment. Just really asking if it's worth it or it's just a product formulated to be used by a rotary so it could be used in high production job.

    Hey Francis,

I use the M03 with the rotary and love it!

I use it with a W-9006 Finishing Pad with the rotary spinnig around 1000-1300 RPM. In my eyes, I do see a difference when applied with the rotary as you are using the rotary's action to create a more liquid look to the paint, IMHO.

Try it on one side of the hood and tell me what you think...

I agree with Tim on this.

Whenever I do a full rotary detail, my last step is always #3 on a finishing pad. The finish always looks like a sheet of glass and the depth is much improved.

Most of the time I use it at about 900 rpms, but that's just my comfort zone.

Anyone with a rotary should try #3 on a finishing pad sometime.

        Thanks Tim,
I was thinking something like 1000RPM so you just confirmed it.

I will try it and see how it ends up.

        Thanks again

Are you guys using this as your LSP or are you topping it with something else?

Mike I was thinking on topping it with #26 but lets see what Chris or Tim can say about it.

I was using it just before the coat of protectant.

That's what I figured Chris, thanks.

To take this a bit further, have any of you compared an application of M81 Hand Polish to a machine application of M03 Machine Glaze? Is there a noticeable improvement? I really like the ease, speed of application and appearance of dark clear coat finishes using M81.

                  Re: #3 Machine Glaze

I agree with Tim. On the rotory it makes the paint look even more wet and I do follow up with a wax or sealant of choice.

                    Re: #3 Machine Glaze

                    Hey,

After using the M03 with the rotary, I always apply 2-3 coats of an LSP like M21 etc... . At this point, you have to be real careful as the finish will be ultra glossy and will look almost like liquid! So a W-9006 on a G-100 applied at speeds 2-3 for LSP's.

Mike, yes I have and use every pure polish Meguiar's makes. Each look similar with only the ease of application making the biggest difference, IMHO. But with M03 and the rotary, that is whole new deal. Like I said, it just provides more of a liquid look to the paint.

Using M81 with a DA is far easier and safer than applying M03 with a rotary. But it depends on your rotary experience and your comfort level.

                      Re: #3 Machine Glaze

Thanks for the feedback guys. Tim, I actually enjoy using M81 by hand and have never tried it with the DA. Some things I just like doing by hand, you know?

But if people I trust so much, who's opinions I value (Tim, Jesse, Chris) are that hot on M03 with a W9006 pad via rotary at 900~1000 rpm then I just have to give it a shot. I'm perfectly comfortable with a rotary so that's not an issue. I just love learning new things, expanding my knowledge base. Thanks for that.

Yep...I know exactly. I just enjoy applying M16, M07, NXT Paste Wax etc by hand. Sure there are other ways where using the DA would be easier, but there is something to be said for the old school way of doing things!

Well then, I guess I have you to thank for the new bit of knowledge gained. On the other hand, I suppose I have you to blame for getting me to spend more money on yet another product!!

Maybe I'm responsible for that but I'm sure it will pay off in the end, when you take 2 steps back and admire your ride I hope you come back and say "thanks!" cause I'm sure I'm coming back and saying thanks to Tim and Chris!
