  • ColorX instead of Pre-cleaner

Wow, I have learned a lot on this site, but have a question. I used ColorX last year and thought it a good product, but this year, want to do a better job, and want to use the three step deep crystal process. Since Color x is a cleaner & wax, and the bottle is almost full, my plan is to clay, colorx, polish, and wax. Will this work? Subustuting the step one cleaner, with ColorX? Know it sounds cheap, but may as well use the colorx up if I can. Thnx

Sounds like youve got the idea but I dont believe you need to use a polish after the color-x. Since its a once step process like you said, it cleans, polishes, and protects the paint. A good idea would be to clay, use color-x, then top that with a good wax(such as NXT2.0).

If you want to make use the DC line(and do a extra step) you can clay, use the DC#1 cleaner, DC#2 polish, then follow that with a good wax.

That will work fine, lots of people use ColorX as their paint cleaner.

Thank guys. Think I will clay, ColorX, deep crystal polish, and either deep crystal wax or NXT2. The NXT2 is almost double the price of DC step 3. I have read they are both great, just people's preference. Thanks again.

If possible, post before/after pics... I'd love to see the results & get your feedback. We need to do my son's car and were considering the same direction as you are headed!

Is ColorX more of a cleaner or a wax?

Do I need to let it cure or can I buff off immediately after putting in the elbow grease?

Well, there are a few ways to look at it.

If you are using it as a cleaner/wax, then you do want to let it dry before removing.
If you are using it just as a cleaner, then it doesnt really matter if you let it haze or not.

                It is a cleaner/wax, in fact it's a strong cleaner/wax.

Yes, that is the exact way you would use the product. It's through the drying process the protection ingredients are best left behind on the paint.

Apply, work in, allow to dry, then wipe off.

You will tend to get better results doing products for individual steps, but ColorX sure gets darn close.
