  • What to use as 2nd coat?

    When I wax, I sometimes apply a 2nd coat; NXT-NXT or NXT-#21.

I am thinking. Since both NXT and #21 contain some cleaner/polish, they are not the best choices for a 2nd coat. We don't want the 2nd coat cleans off the 1st coat, right? For 2nd coat, it is better to use pure wax.

Desides DC3 and Yellow Wax, what other pure wax should I consider?

Also, is Yellow Wax good for silver car?

I always apply to coats of NXT to everything I detail and the results always look great.

If you like it, then you obviously like how it applies and removes and it looks good in your eyes, if you use it often your car's paint will always look new because it's only when paint is neglected that it goes down hill.

On my white Mazda I use NXT 2.0 then apply #26 (yellow wax) and the results are stunning.

^Ive done that before and also loves the out-come. Lately Ive just felt like trying to 'top' another wax just removes the layer under it or doesnt allow the 2nd coat to properly adhere to the CC.

If youre applying two coats to get uniform coverage(Like mike) then thats great but thinking youre layering the wax seems alittle silly to me.

Ive also read that NXT has very little cleaners in it. From what I gather its just enough to allow it to bond if the surface wasnt properly prepped(I could be way off though).

Did you try to apply NXT as a 2nd coat on top of NXT? If so, did you notice the difference?

Anyone tried Yellow Wax on a silver car?

If you do a good job with the first coat I doubt you will see a huge difference. However, you do want to apply a second coat (of whatever you like) to assure good uniform coverage.

I did with NXT v.1 and, from what I read, NXT 2.0 is the same. I really didn't notice a difference though, no. It was more me being anal to ensure I got everything covered.

I have tried #26 Yellow Wax on a silver VW Cabrio when I ran out of NXT (and decided to wait for 2.0 before refilling) and it looked great.

I now top NXT 2.0 with #26 just so I can use up the wax at equal times. I really don't think it looks better than two coats of the same wax, as I have a white car, but I have it...so I use it.
