  • Nxt Spray Wax Problem....

    Here is the short story...

After using NXT Tech Wax and being impressed, I decided to use NXT Spray Wax the next day. However I did NOT follow the directions and sprayed directly on the hood, without shaking it.

It dried up and it was almost impossible to remove. I have sinced washed the car and properly used NXT Spray Wax with great success, but I STILL have specs on my hood....How can I get rid of it?

BTW- my car is a '04 Raven Black Caddy CTS- trying to keep it looking as new as possible for as long as possible.

ALSO- Any tips on cleaning door trim? I have some dust and lint.
I picked up NXT Protective Wax to use on the interior and trim.

NXT booster spray wax can be a pain to remove...try megs Quick Detailer ..even tho after the last time I used NXT booster..I was still finding spots of dry wax residue after quite a few QD sessions & a wash! Or maybe just go over again with the NXT wax...interior trim - NXT protectant works great & smells great too

        Hey,

I would suggest either using Meguiar's Quik Detailer on a MF towel or apply another coat of NXT Tech Wax. Either method will hopefully remove the spots easily.

As for the application of the NXT Spray Wax, I would suggest applying it to a foam applicator and spreading it on to the paint. Spraying it on the paint, as you have found, can cause some overspray, especially if done outdoors where wind becomes a factor.

Good luck and keep us posted!!

Yes, spraying on the applicator and then spreading is definitly the way to go.

Has anyone used terry cloth towels or terry cloth cover foan applicators? NXT Protective Wax suggest using terry cloth to apply it.

BTW- Thanks for the quick responses.

            Hey NYCTS,

Welcome to Meguiar's Online!!!! (Sorry, I should have greeted you in the first post)

While I have not tried it with the terry cloth applicators, I have tried it with a MF applicator. I found that the MF tended to not spread the product very well. In fact, it wiped off as much as it applied.

The reason I do not use Terry cloth applicators is that unless you have very high quality 100% cotton terry, you could introduce marring into the surface. Hence the reason I always use quality foam applicators.

            Cheers!

I am new to the detailing world. So when you say high quality, not sure exactly what brand/product you are referring to. I have been learning thru trial and error (and of course reading thru this message board).

I picked up some Viking terry cloth covered sponge applicators. The package says they're 100 % terry cloth and they feel very soft to the touch...but I don't necessarily want to take any chances.

                Hi NYCTS,

The reason NXT and many Meguiar's cleaners, polishes and waxes mention to apply or remove with terry cloth is because believe it or not, the masses don't yet know about microfiber, but everyone owns a towel.

Best visual results will come from applying polishes and waxes with a clean, soft foam wax applicator pad and removing with a premium quality microfiber polishing cloth.

Actually, I have the direction right here,

                Tech Wax

Apply a small amount of product on foam applicator and spread a thin, even coat on the entire vehicle and let dry to a haze. Remove with a clean, 100% cotton , terry cloth towel turning to a clean portion of the towel for final wipe

                Spray Wax

Spread evenly over a portion of the car using a clean, soft 100% cotton , terry cloth towel or a foam applicator. Allow time for wax t haze and then buff off with a separate 100% cotton, terry cloth towel or Ultimate Wipe microfiber.

In both case a foam applicator pad is listed for removing the hazed product, and terry cloth is recommended for both, and a microfiber is recommended for the spray wax.

Microfiber polishing cloths are superior for removing most polishes and waxes, but if a person purchases one of these products, assuming they don't own a microfiber, or even know what one is, Meguiar's wants to recommend the next best thing which is 100% cotton terry cloth towel. If we don't suggest the towel, we risk people using diapers, t-shirts, red shop rags, cheese cloth, etc.

It's just an effort to reduce the potential for cloth inflicted scratches on the part of the consumer. Plus, you are limited in how much real estate you have to work with on a product label.

Use the Meguiars foam applicators for any wax application. You can get them at Wal Mart and they are only about $1.67 for a package of two.

I tried the new Ultimate Wipes and they work great! Thanks Mike. I ordered the 20 pack after trying them.

First thing first, throw the nxt spray wax away!

I love Meguiars (see pic) but the spray wax is my least favorite of any Meguiars product. I bought a bottle and used it for awhile, long story short, you can't please everybody all the time.

I like Viking Terry Cloth covered applicators. I try to alway have some on hand for when I want to use terry cloth to apply a product. They are fairly easy to find also.

Detailers Choice makes a good/similar pad also.
