  • Meg's pads

I am thinking about switching to Meg's pads from Lake. No particular reason other than price @ ADS. I like the thickness of Lake, but hate Wolfgang. Where do Meguiar's pads fall into? Also, how do you feel about only 3 choices, did you ever feel "I wish there was something in between"? I am eyeing W7006, W8006, W9006 2 of each combo.

    Thanks!

    Re: Meg's pads

You need one pad per product. On a DA, the 7006 is not recommended by Meguiar's for paint, but you can put a bonnet over it and use it for wax removal. 8006 pads for cleaners. 9006 for polishes and waxes.

I am usually using orange Lake pad on a rotary (for rough ocassions) and follow up with white pad on DA.

You can use the cutting pads on a rotary, although you would want the 8" pads probably.

I'm going to throw out another reason why it's probably a good idea to use Meguiar's pads with Meguiar's chemicals (not that you HAVE to use the, obviously): When Meguiar's is developing a new paint cleaner, polish, compound, etc they use Meguiar's pads in during the testing phases. As the chemicals are tweaked to behave a certain way, they are being tweaked while using Meguiar's pads.

Now, I don't recall ever seeing Meguiar's coming right out and saying that their chemicals work best with their pads, and certainly I've never heard anyone say that you can't use other pads - people do it every day - but it makes sense to me to use the same pads that were used to develop the chemicals.

          Just a thought.

Megs pads are different. The w8006 is the polishing pad but is swishier than a white LC pad. You apply pressure on the DA with megs and not so much with LC . The w7006 is harsher than an orange, kinda closer to the LC yellow. The w9006 is similar to the black LC pad. I like to use 80 speed glaze and the w8006 on the DA or rotary its a great combo.
