  • Tire help

    Hey guy,

Ok I just recently purchased and used Gold Class Endurance High Gloss tire gel. I was hoping for an amazing shine, well at least better then the sprays! So I put the stuff on evenly with the applicator pads. So far so good. It dried but looked like it needed a little more, so I added more. Anyway I was done looked back and though to myself, well they don't look that shiney. Then this! The next day it rained up here in the NY area, well the tires are back to normal, stuff is gone. Any suggestions that I might be doing something wrong, or what I can do to prevent this. Thanks for reading guys!

    Hi Blazer2001,

    Welcome to Meguiar's Online!

This may sound like a dumb question, but did you clean the tires first? It's important that the rubber be cleaned before applying and tire dressing.

If so, your results don't sound right. Both of the Endurance products work really well. In fact, they both contain a polymer that cures to the surface.

At this time, any all purpose cleaner, or even a good car wash used with a nylon bristle brush should clean the tires well enough to prepare the surface for the application of a tire dressing.

After the tires are washed and dried, apply the Endurance dressing to the surface using a foam applicator pad. Apply an even, uniform coating, working the product into all of the areas around words and designs. Here are the directions for Endurance:

        Directions:
SHAKE WELL. Apply medium amount of concentrated gel on foam applicator and spread evenly across clean dry tire. Allow product to set-up for approximately 10 minutes and then wipe of excess, (especially in grooved areas), to prevent spin-off which may permanently stain certain plastics. For higher shine, apply tow or more coats allowing 10 minutes for each coating to set-up.

THe technical answer to your question is yes. Just about everything on earth is affected by water to some degree. Glass is an example of a material that is for the most part not affected by water, cardboard is an example of a material that is easily affected by water. Trim Detailer contains a water-resistant polymer in the formula, but with repeated exposure to rain or repeated washings, the beauty results as well as the protection results will be worn away and it will need to be replenished. Trim Detailer will hold up as long or longer than similar products exposed to rain under the same conditions.

if I can add... are they old tires? I find that the older or more negected the tire was before you tryed endurance them more they will soak it up for a few coats. my work truck tires will really soak it up as they sit in the sun all day every day and doesn't get the attention except for two or three times a year. I can put a coat on and in a hour it has to be applied again. just a thought.
