Thanks to the advice of a couple of members I did the clay and three step clean, polish and wax, and the outcome is absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately, as I said in a previous thread, I am not into this as much as some of you guys, and just wanted and nice shiny black car. Soooo, I did not tape any of the molding, and as careful as I was, I have some wax residue. Not on the molding itself, just in the corners along the strip molding. How do you get this stuff off? I tried an old toothbrush in a small area, and I think I may have put a scratch in the paint. Maybe a new soft toothbrush???? Thanks, Dianne

Re: Getting rid of wax residue
Haven't tried this method personally but forum member jfelbab has been detailing cars for a long time and his posts are always very credible.

I also have a stick eraser that looks like a pencil that is wound with a spiral of material that you remove to expose more eraser. I carve this to a sharp point with a razor blade to get into the smallest of cracks.
The rubber grips the left over wax/polish and easily removes it with out damage to the paint/plastic.
Easy enough to try...

Re: Getting rid of wax residue
Thanks Mike. I tried the toothbrush, but not with detailer. Might go buy an new soft toothbrush with the detailer and carefully try again. I know of the pencil eraser that is like a pencil and you peel off the paper. Sounds like an excellent trick, but no clue were to find one. Haven't seen those things in years. Thanks, Dianne

Re: Getting rid of wax residue
they sell a those little detail brushes at like walmart with a pointy rubber end and it works real well for me at getting in those tight areas if i get wax somewhere. Best thing its only about $1.50. Hope this helps
