    Re: Drying Cloth?!

I read a lot that the Meguiars Water Magnet is a good choice.

I have a pretty good amount of Meg's microfiber towels and use those and wring them out as I go. I use my Costco/off brand for door jambs and what not.

Water magnets are the way to go - super absorbent with that microfiber goodness.

Out of your two choices. I would go with the water magnet.

I use a combo of both... using the Soft Touch to soak up the standing water where needed and a follow up with the Water Magnet. The WM is IMO the better option if you are only looking into one of the two.

Thats exactly what I do the majority of the time. I read thats what Mike did so I tried it out and it works great.

Lately Ive built up alot of drying towels so I just use two or three of those. Ill go over an area of the paint with one WW then follow up with a dry WW. This method seems to work out great also.

Have you guys found that the WM is totally safe as far as not causing any swirls/scratches? I have been looking around for a new choice for drying my car and need to figure out which is the absolute safest choice. I don't care about speed, ease of use, etc. Just as safe as possible. 100% cotton, M/F, water blade, etc.????

I have been using the WM a couple years now and I feel its very safe and IMO is a very good way to dry your vehicle, that said... really any method you use to wipe dry a vehicle has the chance of introducing some sort of fine scratches. Not sure this can be totally eliminated with any drying towel, what do others think about this?

Meg’s does sell natural animal skin chamois for those who still want them:
                      Meguiar’s Premium Natural Chamois

Personally, I used natural chamois for decades but now that I’ve been using modern tools I will never go back. IMHO the new stuff is just plain better.

I have to agree with gb387, nothing is totally safe.

No matter what tool you use there’s always the possibility that you’ll get some grit trapped under it, press too hard on it, bash it against the surface or find you have a car with absurdly sensitive paint. That said, Water Magnets are extremely safe when used correctly.

The safety of any tool eventually comes back around to the skill and care of the user.

What do you guys think about just plain old high-quality 100% cotton towels. If clean and not bashed around like PC was saying, is cotton still the safest way to go? I'm not saying it works better for drying, but is it still the safest?

                          Re: Drying Cloth?!

Clean, very plush, 100% cotton terrycloth towels are generally very safe. Safest? I don’t think so, but very safe nonetheless.

Are the larger blue WM the same as the smaller yellow WM?

Yes, they are the same as the yellow Water Magnets other than the larger size and their blue color to relate to the Marine line of products.
