  • Scratch-x by Microfiber?

    Hi, new here

Just wondering if i can apply Scratch-x by D/A with a microfiber pad. I plan to do my whole car. I konw it's okay to use the D/A because it says it on the tube, but i'm just concerned about if the microfiber is fine to use.

I used ~10 applications by hand with microfiber towel in 1 spot, i see some minor scratches, in the sunlight, that dont seem to go away, leading me to believe that it's from the microfiber or something. BTW... I used that many applications because i was doing some touch up work and I didnt have any polish.

    Thanks

You can use it with a Meguiar's W8006 polishing pad. I wouldn't put a MF bonnet over it though, just use the pad.

Not sure what MF pad you are referring to.

^ I'm not referring to any particular brand of microfiber, just any microfiber in general that can be attached to my no-name D/A.

Maybe i should just ask if Scratch-X is okay to be applied using a microfiber towel.

The thing is that MF is really soft, and Scratch X has diminishing abrasives in it. If you just want to use an applicator so to speak, use either a terry one for extra "bite," or a foam one.

I used a MF applicator pad the other day with Scratch X and it didn't work too well (not what I was used to anyways, and I pretty sure that's why).

Thanks I just wanted to go over my whole car to remove some very very light scratches. I can only see the scratches in direct sunlight so they must not be very deep at all

The application material is going to vary based on what you are trying to remove. I have an '07 Tundra that was a victim of a shopping cart attack in the parking lot of Wally World. I had a scratch that was about 2.5" long on the passenger side door. I could just barely catch it with my fingernail. I used ScratchX by hand using a piece of terry cloth. I worked several applications in. With the lighting just right, I could see fine scratches that the terry cloth left. I reapplied the ScratchX several more times but this time using a microfiber cloth. The scratches are completely gone and I'm back to my showroom, er, better than showroom finish!
A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

What you are referring to are swirls. You could use a product like M80 instead of Scratch X. SX requires some passion to make it work. M80 by hand, I think, would be a bit easier to use for removing swirls. And since you have a DA, M80 would work even better and faster.

I guess they are called swirls but there isnt enough of them for it to give it that swirly shape illusion. My car was perfect, but then the dealership did their free "car-wash" and now there's "swirls" all over. Not much though.
