  • passes or time?

i see everyone talking about making a certain number of passes. weather thats 2,3,4,5 or 6. most of the time i see people talking about makng 3 passes to break down polish properly. at same time they say work polish for 2-3 minutes to properly break it down. i have seen ALOT of video of different people using a PC to polish and if i am counting right they are making over 10 passes before polish is broken down. so is it work time or number of passes? and just so i am sure has to what peolpe are calling passes can someone explain or post a video of what is considered to be a pass?

I could see where that gets confusing. It's really the time that breaks down the polish. Check out this link, there is a lot of great info in there. Also it's really worth the money to pick up this DVD if you can.

Don't be afraid to learn by trying it. After a few areas you will get the feel for how long the polish takes to break down and a good arm speed.

What product and pads are you using? Also any photos would be a huge help.

LC orange white and grey are the pads i am using
          optimum compund, polish and poliseal
high temp 357 and smooth cut
wizards turbo cut and finish cut
          menz IP and FPII

i have not yet picked up any Meguiar products yet.
i should also say that when the cars are in the sun they looks great. nice reflection and shine. but when i throw the halogens on it i see the swirls. maybe i am just to picky

It's hard to say without any photos. I haven't used high temp or wizards so I can't comment on those products. The orange with optimum compound should be pretty aggressive, in fact it might leave hazing behind. Try that in a test spot then follow up with white and optimum polish.

It's hard to keep a daily driver looking perfect under halogens too.

Well can't really tell what's going on because as you said, you don't have any Meguiar's products, maybe it's a good opportunity to start to use them.

              What are you working on?
