  • Which products should I use?

    [COLOR=black>[/COLOR]
Color of the car is: Dark Blue (mystic blue BMW)

Witch product should I use and do you have anything else to suggest?

    I’m planning on using the
    Dual Action Polisher G110 / PC 7424

    Wash with:
Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo & Conditioner

    Clean surface with:
    Smooth Surface Clay Kit G1016
Detailing Clay – Mild C20 (can I use this one with the Quik Detailer?)

    Polish with:
    Show Car Glaze M07

Should I use one of these two between Polish and Wax?
    Polymer Sealant M20
    Synthetic Sealant M21

    Wax with:
    Hi-Tech Yellow Wax M26,
    NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0
    Gold Class Liquid Wax

    Maintain with:
    Ultimate Quik Detailer

Thanks to all for your help

    Wash - Good

Clay - Good. Yes, either clay will work fine, and you can use QD with both. Buy extra QD either way.

    Clean - #80 Speed Glaze

Pure Polish - Optional, though for a dark color, could add to the look. #7 is the top of the line.

Wax - 2 coats of wax are recomended. You can do 2 coats of #21, Nxt, #26, or any other wax you like.

Maintain - UQD is good, esp after future washes to refresh things a bit.

Yes, you can use the Quik Detailer with the mild clay. That clay isn't all that different from what comes in the Smooth Surface Clay Kit.

If you've got any fine scratches you might consider running with #80 between clay and #7. #7 is a pure polish and I don't believe it's abrasive. #80 has some diminishing abrasives and can work out the fine scratches. If you have more than fine scratches, you might consider the more agressive #83 followed by #80. That's sort of the standard prescription around here with the DA polisher.

I use #21 as my last step product (LSP). You'll get varying opinions on using a sealant and a wax. I don't think you can go wrong with two coats of a single LSP; any of the waxes or sealants you mentioned.

Last Saturday, in the rain, I saw a friend's black Lexus that I finished with #21 back in September and it's still beading like crazy.

Use the clay and sealant on clear coated wheels too. Then stay away from them with the wheel cleaner and only wash them with your car wash soap-- treat them like your clear coat body paint.

PS: In short, just do what Murr says.

What he said. I have a black color car and I did this same "system" and it came out great. Is pics http://s267.photobucket.com/albums/ii311/goridemtb/.

A couple of things. Use QD to clay. I don't think they suggest UQD for claying.

Also after you clay do a test spot to see how your paint does. Take your time. It took me two days to do my car the first time. Take the time to read through the posts.

Good luck. Wait until you see your!

          Yeah, that gets expensive.

Also, do not allow #80 to dry before removing it. Otherwise, 2 days becomes 3.

          Good luck.

Why do you say that pure polish is optional for dark color?
I thought #7 Show Car Glaze would give better result then #80 Speed Glaze?

#7 is a pure polish, it's a product that only adds oils to the paint results by this making it "pop" and adding beauty to the paint

#80 is a cleaner/polish, in the formulation of this product you have diminishing abrasives that will clean and remove swirls and then when the abrasives have diminished it will add beauty to the paint.

              Hope this helps

                    You have two options

                    Option #1
                    Wash
                    Clay
                    #80
                    #7
#20 or #21 or NXT or Gold Class or #26, you pick what you like but remember to give it two thin coats of wax
                    Maintain

                    Option #2
                    Wash
                    Clay
                    #80
#20 or #21 or NXT or Gold Class or #26, you pick what you like but remember to give it two thin coats of wax
                    Maintain

You could really use #7 because you have a dark paint and because of this you'll notice a difference when you apply #7. For example if you car paint were white or grey then it's not really worth it because maybe it would do the paint good but you wouldn't notice, you won't see the difference when you apply it

                    Does this help?

Re: Which products should I use?

If you don't want to you don't have to.
But if you don't want to have so many steps then its better to use #80 and leave #7 for another day if you want.

If I were you I'll do wash, clay, #80 and wax. maybe because #80 is a cleaner/polisher it will clean and remove defects making it look better and more crisp rather than clay #7 and wax

Now the answer to all your question is this do a test spot and in one side you will do clay, #7 and wax and in the other one clay, #80 and wax. Compare the results and whatever you like the most you multiple that same process in the entire vehicle

I will use #7 for sure so maybe I shoud use something else them #80 since that one is a cleaner/polishes maybe I should use a cleaner only like #2,
                          or...???

any other suggestion then #80 why #80 more then an other one?

I'm getting confuse about this cleaner there are so many products #9,#82,#83...

Thanks. It's a garage queen but not bad for 8 years old.

I did use the #7 that is the pure polish. On that a LITTLE goes a long way.

Okay, calm down. first do alot of reading on this site.
                              1 wash the car
2 Feel your paint. You will get used to this. No rings or watches to scratch it just your hand. it should feel smooth as glass. Feel a mirror in your house. That is what it should feel like. if it doesn't you will need to clay.
2 claybar. all this does is remove the bonded contaminents that are on your car that washing wont get of. As you rub the clay over the paint you will almost hear it working. The first couple of passes will sound like sand paper and then it will get quiet and become easier to go over the paint. Follow the instructions on the claybar kit and you shouldn't have any problems.
3 Okay Mike is going to say do a test spot about three times here. If you do a search on here i am sure you will find info on that.
4 I used #80 (with an #8006 pad) it is a cleaner polish with deminishing abrassives. All that means is that as you work it into the paint it becomes less abrasive and more of a polish. By far on this site this is the stuff that everyone with a DA loves. It gets rid of swirls and other issues in your paint and doesn't seem to leave the micro-maring that #83 can leave(because it is more abrasive).
5 #7 its a pure polish(also with an #8006 pad). All that means is that it has no abrasives in it. It seems to be much more useful for dark color cars. It just seems to give the color a depth. Like I said a little goes a long way.
6 I used NXT 2.0. Two thin coats. Again a little goes a long way. Think of the wax coat as microns thick so dont glob it on you are only waisting your product but also time waiting for it to cure.

That is the basics. Like I said at the begining do ALOT of reading and searching on this site.

Good luck. And post pics of that ride when you get done.
