  • Scratch-X vs. 80 vs. 9

My 2008 black city Jetta has some rotary buffer marks on the door panels (not from me!) I bought it brand new, but of course the nice coat of wax that was on it disguised the marks until a few washes later. I may also have added a few scratches myself as I have to drive my car down the block from the pressure-wand car wash (can't do it at home). I used Quick Detailer and a fresh section of microfiber each time to do a quick wipe before I did any work to get the dust off that may have accumulated in the block between the parking lot and the car wash... but you never know.

When I use Deep Crystal 1 and 2 and NXT liquid wax the marks are pretty much invisible but I want to remove them not cover them.

Would my best be be Scratch-x, or the professional line (either 80 or 9)? I will be working by hand.

If you will be working by hand , I would recommend trying ScratchX.

Read the link below for the proper way to apply ScratchX.

    Good luck!

If you've used the paint cleaner/polish and wax and the marks are almost invisable.....do they return after a couple of washes? If so, then ScratchX would be your next step. Before going after a large area, try ScratchX on a single small panel, remove it, see if the marks appear to be gone and then wax. Trying to do an entire car with ScratchX is a MAJOR undertaking all in one session.

Ya, they marks reappear after a few washings. I can't imagine doing a whole car at once with scratch-x, I think I'd do one door a day until I was done

I have not tried it, but there are some here who have used M80 by hand with great results.
