I had to tape cardboard over a broken window on my car. After removing the blue 3M tape from the area around the window, I discovered that there were dull areas that I couldn't remove with Mequiar's cleaner/wax. Any suggestions as to how to proceed without damaging the clear coat finish? Thanks very much.

I'd try some diluted rubbing alcohol. If it won't peel your skin, it won't hurt the clear coat. If you have some clay and QD, that might remove it as well. After it's clean, another coat of wax would be best.
