  • Drying after rain

    Hi guys,

Sorry about the long absence, pc's been on the fritz and I'm actually posting from my ipod. Have another question for you guys.

Let's say I have a clean vehicle that's parked for the entire day, in the sun with just the light dust that I would normally wipe off with a qd like last touch. If it gets wet from rainfall, do I just wipe dry or can I apply, say, the last touch detailer to the wet vehicle and then wipe dry.

I would apply some type of QD to the wet vehicle first, then dry. The QD provides some lubrication beween any dust particles and the paint, to help avoid scratching.

If the vehicle has actually been driven in the rain and has road grime on it, I'd just wash it again.

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

      Posting from an IPOD?

At any rate... I agree. Water has no lubrication, you would want the QD.

I often just wash in the rain, because one the dirt is off, and the rain washes the hose water off, you'll get very few spots.

LOL, welcome to the 2000's. Our computer guys at the jail have Window enabled phones and can do wonderful things when they hack their phones. It's spooky what they could do with them.

Back on topic. Agree with above. Driven, wash. Not driven, QD

If it doesn't look very dirty I would just use a QD but if you notice quite a bit of dirt then I would say wash it.

He could be using his iPhone or iTouch to post.

Thanks guys. I definately wash it if its moved, but I was specifically asking about a parked vehicle. I just wasn't sure if a QD would work on a wet surface. Thanks again.

Oh and it's a ipod touch.

                  Re: Drying after rain

If it is already wet from the rain, you can turn the hose on it to knock off any dirt then quickly go over it by only scrubbing one panel one or two times and rinsing with another bucket of plain water....

Then the car will be clean and the rain will rinse it. If there is not enough rain to rinse, spray it down with a hose.

Now, simply pull into the garage and dry it... maybe some Quik Wax or UQD if you have the time.

The word "scrubbing" concerns me a bit here...

If it's not too dirty and not been driven I'd be using a QD too.
