  • 2nd Coat

I know that the wax has to be cured for approx 24 hours before applying the 2nd coat.

If I have to drive the car in between waxing, I will have to wash/dry the car first. Does this defeat the purpose of the 2nd coat?

Not as long as you wash gently and with a high quality wash mitt and a high quality car wash soap that's non-detergent like Gold Class Car Wash.

In your other thread, you mentioned that someitmes you would wait only 30 minutes before applying the 2nd coat.

Great. I will wait 1-2 hours before the 2nd coat.

When working on my own cars I don't have the time to wait till the next day to apply a second coat of wax.

When working on a customer's car, it's usually a job at their location, (owners of cool cars don't usually want to drive them down the 1-15 out to the desert), so we drive to them and again... there is not time to wait until the next day and to drive back on a second day would take all the profit out of the job.

          Make sense?

Thus 2 coats, back to back with about 30 minutes of time between coats while we do something else like clean up or wipe the windows, or dress the tires, etc.

Yes, it's not difficult to kill 1-2 hours for the 1st coat to cure. Tire dressing, wax the wheels, clean the windows, etc......
