  • Oh no!! what is this!!??

Meguiar's faq stated that #80 is fine to use on new paint...its after 2 weeks after I got the car from the body shop (accident, hood replaced and painted)..and has minor swirls on the hood. Since I got my pc for the first time...i decided to try it...the result is fantastic when under the halogen light...then after 1 week...i began to notice a WAVE-like swirl on the hood under the sun..I did not notice it until 2 days ago...also I only notice this on the hood and no where else...

Someone tell me what is this?? Is this a normal swirls? never seen such before...

Seems like you had some sort of debris on your pad.

What was the process? Did you wash it and/or clay it before you hit it w/ the 80?

Really tough to tell from that angle, but we can say M80 Speed Glaze is safe for all paints, so that part is true

Is there anyway you can take a few pictures from a few different angles with light on it ?

This will help determine what is going on...we hate to guess and give you bad info

Are you from the LA area ? Maybe you can stop by the office one day, or attend a Thursday Night Get Together beginning next week. We could easily diagnose it there.

I agree with Playr. Looks like you had some small debris. Must have been vibrating against your paint as it appears like small dots in a line. But like Mike mentioned it's tough to really tell just by these photos.

small debris? the pad is a freshly out of the package pad...so i doubt there is debris...but maybe the debris fly to the pad?? lol...i was working on a close garage...yes I am in the LA area but the office is like 50 miles away..lol....just went to the Saturday class about 2 weeks ago..but have not notice the "Waves"...

here is some more pic (the best I can take..sorry):

By looking at the new pics, they actually look like "finishing" D/A sanding marks that weren't properly removed to start with from the bodyshop. Shops commonly use finishing D/A's to sand before compounding / polishing, and if you don't get all the marks out, they look like that....I do say "finishing" D/A because the stroke size of those are much smaller than a G110 and the P/C and that is what it appears happened.

If this is the case, you will need a rotary buffer and some M105 or your favorite compound to remove them

If you know / trust the shop, you may run it back to them (if they are close) and have them peek at it and hopefully fix it for you.

            Hope that helps.

finishing sanding marks??? ....the body shop is 5 miles away..the shop already did a poor job on the paint.. i already got orange peel on the pillar of the car..but they told me the pillar wasn't even touched...so it wasn't their fault...-_-;;...but i don't really care as it wasn't that visible...but the hood is...anyway so a G110 won't be able to fix this I guess??

If I were you I would follow Mike's advice and drop by during Thursday night's classes even though it is 100 miles roundtrip.

I don't think your going to beat the expert advise you'll get there or possibly the expert help with the problem.
