  • NXT Speed Detailer vs Quik-Detailer

I am looking for a clay lube, and the various threads and product description have indicated the NXT Speed Detailer, as well as the Quik-Detailer are the right products to choose.

Can anyone tell me if one is better than the other as a clay lube? The Quik-Detailer seems cheaper than the NXT Speed Detailer, and I will ONLY be using it as a clay lube.

I will be purchasing the Ultimate Quik Detailer or M13501 separately for my quick detailing needs, so am only looking for the best or recommended clay lubricant.

    Thanks!

    I'd go QD then.

I would go with the regular qd. Or you could go with last touch diluted at 1:1 ratio.

Last Touch is my favorite clay lube; very slick!

I really like #00 (Hi-Tech Wash), diluted properly, as my clay lube. Last Touch is also one that I'll use with high frequency.

You can buy LT (D155) by the gallon or five and a 16 oz bottle of #00 (Hi-Tech Clay Lube is a name that I once heard it called) will go a LONG way without the effects that regular shampoo & water solutions will do to a clay bar (degradation to the bar by removing the oils and such).

But, back to your first question -- between NXT SD and QD, I'd go the QD route as I just think/feel that it's a slicker product...

Thanks guys. I will take your advice and go with a gallon of the Last Touch.

I just keep buying bottles of QD when I see them on sale at random stores. I usually find then on sale for $2.99 and pick up a bottle or two.

Silly question on Last Touch. As a clay lube, dilute 1:1, but as a quik detailer, just use as-is (non diluted)?

Any reason why it's better to dilute 1:1 for clay lubing? Just to save product?

Undiluted, it is too slick to use with clay. The same reason you shouldn't use UQD to clay.

Partly to make it more cost effective, but the main reason is that it is so slick undiluted, that it actually tends to work better diluted. Otherwise, it is so slick that the clay just glides right over the surface without being able to pick up as much. For quick detailing though, use it undiluted to ensure maximum protection against scratching the paint.
