In the near future I will be detailing my Honda Ridgeline including washing, claying, and the application of paint cleaner, polish, and wax. I recently purchased a DA polisher which I will use to apply the paint cleaner, polish, and wax. My question is this: when applying the polish (Meguiar's pro. machine glaze), how do you know when you have polished a given area enough to move on to the next section. In other words, how do you know you have achieved the maximum shine before moving on? Thanks. Can't wait for warmer weather and a day off!!

Re: How will I know?
Well it's the claying and the cleaning step that are going to determine the bulk of how smooth and defect free the paint is going by the products you listed, so when you use the M03 Machine Glaze the purpose will be to increase clarity and gloss over what the paint cleaner creates. Use a W-8006 polishing pad on between the 4.0 to 5.0 speed setting, work a section or a panel at at time and make 3-4 passes over each square inch then move on.
You can either remove the leftover residue off the paint after working each section or panel or polish out the entire car and then remove it, it's usually easiest to remove while its still fresh and wet but lots of Pros would polish out the entire car and the wipe it down. As long as you're leaving behind a thin layer of polish the M03 will wipe off very easily, you do want to make sure you're using really clean, soft microfiber polishing cloths for wiping this product off and of course your wax too. Fold your polishing cloth 4-ways this gives you 8 wiping sides for each cloth and fold, shake-out and even change to a fresh polishing cloth as often as you can because that makes wiping off a wet, oily polish easier.
Does this help?

Re: How will I know?
Forum member Sneek is applying M03 to this older, single stage paint after we used a rotary buffer and some M80 to remove the oxidation.
