I just bought a new car but it had a contaminant on the roof which is very rough like rust spots. So i sent it back to the dealer and he polished it. the spot turned black,
Since polishing didn't remove it he wet sand it and he was sucessful and remove the sanding mark using hitachi ..18Sb.... sumthin. i askd what is it and he told me it was an orbital polisher.

    1. Does this mean that clay can't remove it.
    2. When i read this forum you guys said that orbital can't remove sanding marks or mayb i cant find the little scratch because my car was grey??? but it lookd good to me.
3.He told me it's all in the pad not the machine???

He also explained to me about the compound that he uses which can be applied by hand and which should be applied by machine.

i asked if this was as good as the hitachi and he said yes

    Re: contaminants

    Can you post some pictures?

It sounds like it may be "rail dust". Common on new cars, and clay is the best solution, but again pictures would help identify the challenge 100%

I'm guessing you have a white or light color car. It's common. A clay bar will remove it although you may want to get the aggressive clay bar depending on how bad it is. He most likely went to the polisher because they were too hard to come out w/ regular clay. It took me over 2 hours to thoroughly do my white car until 100% perfect with a regular clay bar. Most of the problem was on the back of the car.
Aggressive clay bar for the win.

        Re: contaminants

I did took a picture but i can't see anythin in the pic, should have clayed it i went with the free route and sent it back to the dealer and they have to sand it down. I was worried at first that he couldn't remove the sanding marks because he was using an orbital.
He did left some light straight scratch, i don't know how that happened. maybe from the towel because if it was from the buffer it would've been a round scratch. He used the compound with his hand but it didn't work so i ask him to leave it because i was afraid that he was going to cause more damage
