  • Shampoo Defoamer

Hey everyone,I just bought the durrmaid carpet extractor and they recommend using shampoo defoamer. My question is. With megs apc+ dilluted 64:1 or megs apc is this really necessary? Thanks in advance. Seth.

    Re: Shampoo Defoamer

I have a Durrmaid extractor myself, I only run water with some white vinegear from the water tank and I usually just treat the area I am cleaning with APC+ 10:1 or in more tough areas, 4:1 and just keep rinsing until it's not pulling up anymore soap. I use a little defoamer each time I use it. just a cap full or a little more.

APC will a lot more than APC+. I get too much foam when I use APC in my Little Green Machine but almost none with APC+.

I don't but I also am using a Little Green Machine and not a 'real' extractor. APC+ is designed to be low foaming for use in extractors. Sorry I can't help you more.

I believe since your machine is under warranty and it says to use it, I would. When I had talked to Dennis from Durrmaid he stressed using the Defoamer.

I just use the defoamer from Rug Doctor you get wherever you can rent one of those machines. My tip does seem to clog alot, even just running water with vinegar through the machine. I usually have to take it off and unclog it before i use it. I maybe due for a new tip.

How do you like the Flex so far?

                  hey sstg,

I also have the durrmaid extractor. I use APC plus with the extractor since it is a lower foaming interior cleaner than APC, but I still use a defoamer anyway. I use it for a bit of added insurance that it does not foam and then ruin the vac motor. Also from what I remember from the durrmaid's owners manual it states to not use any cleaning products in the solution tank to help prevent damage. If you look on the APC Plus bottle it talks about 32:1,64:1 dilution ratios these are for use in the extractors solution tank if I remember correctly. I use the detailer line spray bottles for APC Plus and use a ratio of 10:1 or 4:1 depending on how dirty the interior carpet is. The ratio line is on the bottle. I have never used APC with the extractor but I have used it with an older cold water extractor and hand scrubbed the carpet and it foamed up really bad. I had to stop and rinse out the recovery tank just to keep the foam down. USE THE DEFOAMER If you have anymore questions about this extractor you can pm me if need be.
