  • My Routine (Ok, too much or not enough)?

    Ok guys,

Here is my plan, please feel free to criticizeand point out if I’m doing anything unnecessary or not doing enough of something.

    Vehicle

My new vehicle is a Black Mica 2008 Ford Ranger with, chrome bars, painted alloy wheels, plastic lensed lights, vinyl covered Roll n' Lock tonneau cover.

    Usage

It's my daily vehicle in regular city traffic as well as my recreational vehicle which takes me hunting or spectating for rallys at least once a month (way OFF ROAD).

    Climate & Environment

Here in ffice:smarttags" border="0" alt="" />Jamaica the daily temperature ranges from 70 to 110 degrees farenheight, depending on the time of year. It's a dusty environment and I park in the sun both at home and at work.

    Product List
    1. NXT GEN Speed Detailer (switching to UQD)
    2. NXT GEN Wash
    3. NXT GEN Wax liquid (2.0 not available here yet) (body, chrome and wheels)
    4. NXT GEN Glass Cleaner (windscreen, windows, mirrors, plastic lensed lights and rain visors)
    5. NXT GEN Interior Protectant (actually used only on exterior trim and vinyl)
    6. Quick Interior Detailer ( Interior plastics, vinyl and rubber)
    7. Gold Class Endurance High Gloss Gel (two coats)
    8. NXT GEN Insane shine spray (applied over GC endurance)
    9. Everything is applied with foam pads and Supreme Shine Microfiber towels.
    Overall Care Plan

My plan is to wax with NXT Gen Wax liquid (can't get 2.0 down here yet) once a month, wash with NXT Gen soap once a week and wipe down in the mornings with Ultimate Quick Detailer (some of you guys convinced me to try it instead of the NXT Gen Speed Detailer). When I plan to go off road I would wax at the wash before I go and again when I return after I power wash to remove the mud from the trip.

    Morning Wipe Down

I start out at about 5:00 am, the temperature at that time is about 40 - 50 degrees farenheigt (COLD). I saturate each panel with speed detailer (soon to be UQD) and wipe clean with MF towels. The body panels are cold and tend to fog a little for a short period of time after I wipe them dry. The wheels get the same treatment. Glass and plastic lenses are then cleaned with NXT GEN Glass Cleaner. Tires get a coat of NXT GEN Insane Shine spray. Interior gets wiped with Interior Quick Detailer.

    Wash Routine

Hose down with water, wash with NXT GEN wash and microfiber mit and hose off one panel at a time. Wipe dry using Supreme Shine Microfiber towels. On the wash days when I’m not going to wax I would then use UQD on the panels and wheels. I then use NXT GEN Glass cleaner on the glass and plastic lenses. I use NXT GEN Interior Protectant on the external plastics vinyl and rubber. Finally I give the tires two coats of Gold Class Endurance High Gloss Gel and a top coat of NXT GEN Insane shine spray. When I’m applying wax, I apply it to the body, chrome and wheels.

Great routine. A bit excessive but I admit that I do the same thing.

Two things though and these are just suggestions:

      1. I would get something like an Absorber or a Water Magnet (waffle weave cloth) for drying. For me it is easier to dry than using MF cloths.

      2. While UQDing every morning is fine I would think it to be a touch much. Just a thought, but touching the paint THAT much may increase the chance of swirls and may reduce the longevity of the wax. Probably will not matter if you are waxing monthly but it's just a thought.

      Nice ride though!

I agree with obtaining something other than SS MF towels....you'd need a ton of them to dry an entire vehicle after a wash (they're not real absorbant by design). My only other critique would be the "saturating" the panels with a QD product. All the QD products are more "mist and wipe". Too much product makes it more difficult to thoroughly remove and becomes pretty costly as an aside.

Nice short...you're going to be spending a lot of time getting into all those nooks and crannies.

This kind of environment is going to keep you busy with the quick detailer. Have plenty of microfiber polishing cloths in your arsenal.

If you're using the Speed Detailer to remove the dust that accumulates from day to day, you might want to check into purchasing our Last Touch quick detailer as you can purchase it in gallons and it's a real light lubricity formula that tends to work really well for what you're doing.

UQD in the States is $10.00 a bottle, pretty sure it's going to be more in Jamaica, might want to use this as your "Date Night" detailer for adding that extra pop to the paint and use the more economical detailer for daily maintenance.

First, thanks alot for the compliments guys, much appreciated.

My thinking was that a daily morning wipe with UQD would actually reduce my chances of scratches as the dust and water spots aqumulated from the day before would not get a chance to set in. Plus it kinda wakes me up in the morning.

              Oops, sorry

I was composing the above reply when Mike and Mort were replying. Thanks alot for the input, greatly appreciated, and I'll make the sugested adjustments. I'm not too sure if my local supplier stocks the bulk detailers, but I'll check.

As to price j$1,400.00 a bottle for UQD. Works out to about US$20.00.

Just an update. Got the Gallon bottle of final touch (Pink?). Also bought some hot shine to try for daily use.

Good call on the Final Touch. Just FYI, it can be diluted to really stretch the gallon. I've found that it actually works better (for me anyway) slightly diluted. Get some UQD too....for those special occasions

I use the last touch just in the manner described above. Only use the uqd for special occasions. Your plan of attack sounds good. Good luck.

Used the last touch for the first time this morning, I prefered the smell of the speed detailer but was quite pleased with how easily the last touch removed and final result was quite adequet. Thanks again guys, saved me some cheddar there with the sugestion of the gallon bottle.
