By getting oil on the paint will that take the wax off ? I got my oily hand prints on the fenders and I was actually wondering if old grease or oil take the wax protection away?

How AR do you want to get?

If you want to work in the world of "extremes", then just the act of "touching" paint will cause wear and tear to the surface and in so doing wear off any coating previously applied to the surface.

Consider this...

Is what you're doing to the paint adding more wax? If it's not adding more wax, what's the opposite of adding?

In the real world, wipe the oily fingerprints off using a clean, microfiber polishing cloth and then to these areas apply whatever wax you've been previously using, allow the wax to dry and then remove the excess.

Thanks mike, Once I read the ques a few times I wish I did not post it, I know I am getting worried about my paint and when I thought about it to my self and if I am so worried I should not have even asked the ques and already re done the spots. Sorry for the dumb ques for being a waist of your time.

Common engine oil or gear oil shouldnt really hurt anything.

If it was brake fluid then I would be alittle worried since its not good for paint at all.

Anti-Freeze probably isnt the best either but Ive gotten it on paint with no ill effects. Kinda hard not to when your elbow deep in a engine trying to get old radiator hoses off.

I know now it souds like a bad post now but I have gotten anti freeze on my mustangs fender when it over heated in the garage when I was working on it and the anti freeze actually dulled the paint in one spot and can't get it to shine back up. what could shine it back up? I have tried all my megs products. what good megs product could work? What about color x?

There is detergent in most motor oils so conceivably it could remove some wax. We're all AR here, so just give it some more wax.

I have used all the deep crystal products and the Gold class car wax. and that spot that I got anti freeze on did not shine up. it is dull just in that one spot.

Yeah i have scratch x, I just never seen that abbreviation for it before, to tell you all the truth i have a hard time understanding what all these abbreviations stand for and you learn something new everyday.. Thanks for all this I will give SX a try and tell you all how it turns out. SX verse anti freeze spillage on the paint.

I think I may have made the SX thing up myself , I haven't seen anyone else type it like that. I think it will be your best bet. Go over it with DC2 and wax after.
