  • How much to detail a car?

My buddys mom wants me to detail her lexus. There would be some buffing involved as the quarter was repainted, and not buffed. But what should i charge for a project like this?

How about doing it for free? After all, what are friends for?

Your buddys mom has friends right? I would just do it as a side job if his mom promises to spread the word of your work

          i agree.......

if you're looking for some business,do this car for free.
there is no better way to advertise than mouth to mouth advertising.
make the best out of it,and if she ask you, what do you want?
tell her to tell everybody who compliment her on the car,who did the job.

this way is good for everybody.your friends mom will be happy with you, because you made her car looking good, and she will like you for that, and if she tells her friends, you get clients from that, for sure.

          ciao

It is always a good idea to treat other people the same way you would like them to treat you.

So you go over to your buddy's house, take care of his mother's car and end up having a good feeling about helping another person who appreciates your good work. It's not that hard to do and I'm sure you will enjoy the work. Hey, you may even get a free lunch out of it. Why not make it a fun situation.

It's interesting. I detail a lot of vehicles for free. Some for neighbors, some for relatives and some just for friends. They know how much I like to detail cars and I just love to see the look on their face when the job is complete. It's a good feeling to know you're appreciated. Hey, it's the least I can do for someone I care about.

Just yesterday I helped my nephew completely detail his GMC Yukon. A few days ago was his birthday and since I had given him a car wash/detail kit that I put together, it was only natural to offer to detail his Yukon. With his help, and a little help from a coat of NXT, it only took us about three and a half hours to make his Yukon look better than new.

Anywho, it is always better to offer your help out of the goodness of your heart and not expect anything in return. Especially, when you are doing it for someone that you truely care about.

All good ideas above, but if you feel like that you should get paid for it, then tell her that you normally do it for about $100.00, but give her a $50.00 break on the price...Just for who she is. (I do this all the time for people I know well)

Or you can set up your own price structure.

I've been detailing my mom's car as part of her Mother's day gift for the last 4 years. It's to the point now where she asks in May "When can I bring it over". I also polished and waxed my nephews '99 Tahoe... He had spent about 20 hours getting it "mostly" clean, but was loving it after a pass of #7 and NXT

So I guess I'd have to agree maybe a freebie for the word of mouth value. That's if you plan on maknig this a part time thing....

                    Hey,

It would be a nice gesture to do it for free or for perhaps a pizza!
