  • Detailed car and then rain now what

Hello this is my first post, I decided to join this fourm because yesterday I used a number of exterior paint products on my silver jeep grand cherokee. Heres what I did:
    1. wash using some generice car wash concentrate
2.used a bug and tar remover that I wasn't happy with (turtle wax I believe)
    3. Meguiars quick clay bar
    4. Meguiars step one
    5.meguiars step two
    6. meguiars gold class wax in solid form
I also did the windows and wheels and tires and trim

Very happy with the finished product
But last night it rained out and I dont have the vehical in a garage.
now I have little dark spots on top of the wax and the windows look like shat.

I dont know what I should use because I dont want to strip the wax and I don't want those streaks as well. I can do the windows again but what should I use that wont take off the wax.

    Thanks Joe

    don't worry............

we all know that prolem, because we love detailing,no matter what kind of weather it is.
    be positive,be happy.
get some quick detailer, and rinse off all dirt with water.sometimes,i rinse off the car,and take a washmitt, and wash it without soap.even if you use meg's car soap, your wax won't strip off,in fact, you're maintaining your wax layer.
after that dry the car with either a 100 % terry cloth towel,or a good quality chamois ( my preference)
now look at your car,if you think it's ok,leave it to rest,if you think you miss some final touch, use the quick detailer. you will like it,for sure.

    bye,

    Rick

That's exactly what i have, it rained the night before I put on the Hi-Tech Yellow Wax, and I already had Clayed, DC 1&2 and had two coats of Polymer Sealant, the next day I noticed like what this person said " dark spots on top of my car's paint" I was very dissapointed, so I washed it off and they were still on, so I thought hmmm maybe now when I apply the Hi-Tech Yellow Wax it will come out.

      But it's still on there.

1- Since the rain also had an effect on your windows, do you think it could have been caused by some sort of airborn contamination that came down with the rain?

2- Have you ever seen anything like those little dark spots before?

          Hey Mike or 2HotFord

I have also seen these mysterious spots. I thought I had them licked with my second coat of NXT but they seemed to come back after I used the quick wax. I'm really not sure whats going on, maybe Mike or 2HotFord can help. I have applied them correctly I'm sure. And I still have the spots, especially after a rain.

I have come to notice that the gods of car washing hate me. I have no garage so I have to wait for a cool day to wash my car but eveery time its cool a thunderstorm comes the day after
they need to make car care products that can be used in any weather, I would love to go out and wash my car when its sunny but they always say not to, never really tried it, well once it was sorta hot and my clay bar smudged the car but 5min in the frezzer took care of that.

A thought might be the trim stuff I used, theres little light spots on the trim, and the same white spots on the window, but I dunno about the dark spots on the paint.

i'm thinking that the spots you see could be the rainwater affecting the oils in the polish...
If they were regular water spots ( like ontop of a coat of wax) they would look lighter than the car, not darker.

so i'm guessing that the polish did something with the polishing oils in the DC #2. So try this...

Clay the car again, and re-apply your DC #2 polish and see if that takes care of the dark spots

if that doesn't help, I'm stumped.

              Hope this helps,

              Stevo.

                me again,

sorry, i confused the original question with the story decribed by the second post.

                my bad,

i really have no idea what this is, but i know that the same thing happens if you let some drops of tire shine, or something else really oily set up on your paint.

                hope THIS helps,

                Stevo
