Re: how long do you leave your wax on for

Leaving a product on too long before wiping it off can lead to streaking. Hence the best thing to do use the Swipe Test that Andy linked as that will take the guess work out of it.

Hi Tim,it happens often that the wax has dried on the surface of the clear coat but the wax is still not dry on its air exposed surface.
Does some one need to let the wax dry on the air exposed surface as well before wiping off ?

    Thanks

After completing the Swipe Test, if the paint is smear free, remove the residue. The rest of the wax is now boding to your finish and will continue to set up over the next 12 hours or so. After that, go ahead and use UQD etc as needed.

15 minutes may be ultimate time in SO-CAL but the swipe test is good advice because I have seen the time where I live that in 30 minutes it was still wet

            (I do swipe test first)

I wax the whole vehicle and wait ... until the wax is dry (hence, swipe-test). I think the amount of time to wait will depend on the ambient temperature and humidity for your area at the time of application. So basically, wax the whole vehicle and then one-finger-swipe ... at least the amount of time it takes to do the whole acreage plus 10 minutes (rest). LOL
