    Re: Clay or Not???

I tried to post some decent pictures here. http://meguiarsonline.com/forums/pho...0/ppuser/15592

I succeeded with posting, probably failed with "decent". It is hard to get a really good shot to illustrate that this worked, but the glare is pretty good evidence that I got the desired result.

I had some drips/runs on the door above the handle pocket, coming off the black/pinstripe area. Pretty bad ones. After a good rub down with 1000 grid and then 2000 grit wet/dry paper, I buffed out the 2000 grit scratches with Scratch X and a buff ball I had laying around. Okay, not what the pros would do, but I got a really good result. I also had some runs onto the black in other areas of the bus and used same technique. Worked great. I also had some grit that must have been blown on to the wet clearcoat. I hit that with 2000 to breakthrough the clear, then some Clay bar action, then somemore 2000 grit action, followed by a buff with Scratch X. Again, great result. I have to say that I was VERY apprehensive about doing any fix, but in small, cautious steps, this actually worked. Thanks to all who provided advice.

Congradulations. I would bet that "small, cautious steps" was the key.....usually is for me.
