I am getting ready to detail my Orient Blue 325i. I just received my PC and Edge pad kit. I also ordered a clay bar kit, #7, #21 and #26. I looked at the paint in the bright sun and saw no swirl marks. The car has been garage kept since day 1. Does the pattern above starting with claying seem to be right to bring out a glassy finish to the paint?

Re: Getting ready to detail
First off, congratulations for being swirl free, and very lucky, so continue doing what you're doing, as your doing something very right! Next, after washing and drying your car, simply run your hand lightly over your finish to feel for any micro bumps. If it doesn't feel smooth as glass, then pull out your QD and clay bar and get on those surface contaminants. Next, based on what you have, polish with #7 to bring out the deep, rich color then top with #21 and let cure. Next day, top with #26 and your car's finish will make you proud! As for the PC, use the finishing pad to apply the products but don't use the same one, as it isn't recommended to cross contaminate different products on the same pad. Hope this helps.

Re: Getting ready to detail
The only thing I might do different is go with #80 or #66 first, even though you said you didn’t see any swirls, just to take care of anything your eye isn’t picking up. You wouldn’t have to work it has hard as you would if you trying to remove a bunch of defects. I think doing this will only improve your final results.
You could still use the #7 (by hand) after the #80 if you wanted to, but It probably wouldn’t make that much difference (especially since your car is in such good condition already) because the #80 is loaded with good polishing oils.
This is just something to think about by no means I’m I saying your plan isn’t good. Also, if you have never clayed the car before I would recommend claying no matter what, but that’s just me. I have felt some really smooth paint before and still pulled junk out.
Good luck and post some pics!
