Plz Help me Understand

I need help!!!!!! lol
I guess im woried about takeing off the clearcoat on my truck!! Its brand spanken new paint, The truck has never sat outside. I have not had it back that long. I know theres 4 coats of clear. Friend/body man put just a little more. So I know I have lots of clear so I have some room to work if I need to.

Truck is going to be a shop KING!! lol wont see much sun!!

There is a lot of stuff to buy for paint, Paintcleaner Polish wax claybars Qd Uqd Its shocking what they have now days!!
I guess its to much for me cuz I am lost!!

I found some one that said Gc is a polish wax. What does a polish wax do? See I just got Gc wax and wash not to long ago for a gift.

What type of wax is Nxt?

Does Polish take off any clear coat?

Does the claybars take off any clearcoat of just the junk that stuck to the truck? I don't think it takes off any clear but I want to be sure!!! Better safe then sorry!!

One thing I askd in a diff room but only one person wrote back.

If I put Gc wax on my truck then come back out later that day, Can I use Qd to take off the dust so I can put the #2 coat of Gc on? I don't want to mix any thing up thats not so post to.

Long as I don't take off the clearcoat and make the little spiderwebs in my trucks paint i'll be fine I just over protective!!! I don't think my friend wants me to run over there 10 times a day LOL

So I have Gc wax and wash, ScratchX some other stuff but its not for paint!

Mike told me to get some deep polish or w/e So I'll get some even thow im afraid of it.

One other ? if it says clearcoat safe does that mean it wont take off any clear? That just might solve all my problems right there!!!

I;ve never done any thing near like this be for in my life. All i've ever done was wash and wax!! and even then I did not know what I was doing but it was my moms truck I was young and did not ever think about any of the stuff I see on this site.

They applied 4+ coats of paint, then any sanding/buffing before it left the shop?

Perhaps we need to take a step back, and just list the basic steps/products to detail a car first. It sounds like you are working by hand, so I'll stick with that.

1. Wash - Gold Class is a fine wash, definately one of the best. Of course using the proper amount of soap, good quality towels ,sponges, two buckets, and Grit Guards will lessen the chance for any swirls.

2. Clay - The Smooth Surface Clay kit is a good start for most people, although Imight say to buy some extra QD spray. Clay wont mar the finish if you use plenty of QD.

3. Clean - Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner would be the general cleaner to use by hand for general dirt. ScratchX would be for removing swirls, and other defects.

4. Polish - A pure polish like Deep Crystal Polish or #7 Show Car Glaze will just put some polishing oils across the surface to help the looks of the paint.

5. Wax - A wax wil lseal in your polish to keep the good looks, and protect from the elements a bit. Whether you used Gold Class, Nxt, or one of the newer waxes coming out, you will be in good shape.

6. Maintain - After future washes, and when a bird takes a liking to your car, a detail spray will remove the light dirt and bring a fresh gloss back. I tend to use QD for removing bird stuff ,etc, and the UQD after washes.

NOOO LOL its a basecoat clear coat!!! we wetsanded and buffed like crazy!!!!!! U can see the photos WHAT LOOKS BEST ON

By the way I see that you have ice hockey for your photo!! well I have to say its the wrong team!! COL Avs!!!!! I did icehockey for a long time!!!

A polish wax is just a wax that has an extra amount of polish in it, just to help the paint look better incase you didnt do a seperate polishing step.

When a mild clay is used with plenty of lubricant, no clearcoat will be removed or scratched.

The regular QD is exactly for that sort of thing.

No. If a Meguiars product says clear coat safe, that means it will not leave scratches/swirls behind. But the stronger cleaners could have removed clearcoat in the process.

LOL OH OK 4+ coats of paint!!! That sounds like something I woud do Well I painted my rear bumper with rustolem sprypaint and there was over 25 coats of paint!! Now you talk about my friend being mad about that bumper!!! took him two days to get the paint off!!!! So I guess my paint job was good!!

Thanks for the help!!! Now I know what I need to buy!!!
