  • New car New questions

I just got a new Mazda 3 a few months ago, in black of course so it shows everything. I found that a lot of what looks like water marks are all over just the hood and front of the car. Not the roof or trunk, not sure why. I'm using the clay bar to get it off, and it is working really slowly. So that is one question, does it take a long time to really work this product in, i dont want to be scratching the paint. Once i get the finish back to looking new I want to keep it that way without going back to this clay bar again. I was going to use a Meguiars cleaning wax i got originally that didnt work on my hood. I'm new to this so looking for suggestions to keep my black car looking good.

    Thanks for the advice,
    Josh

If the clay bar is taking too long to remove the marks, try some white vinegar diluted with water (I forgot the ratio someone help?). This "bath" removes water spots like magic. This mixture also removes wax, so you will need to rewax, but you probably were going to anyway. These spots have probably etched the paint so you might want to use a paint cleaner (Deep Crystal 1) or, if that does not work, a light polish (#9) to remove the etching afterwards.
I sometimes judge people by the cleanliness of their car.

I have had good luck with paint cleaner as NewlyCarCrazy suggested. You can find some Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner just about any auto store. Very easy to use!

Will the cleaner wax do a job like the paint cleaner does? and does the etching in the paint mean you could still see marks after the clay bar? Im not sure what the paint cleaner does. Also is the cleaner wax good enough to protect the car after i get it looking good or should i use something else.

        thanks, josh
