  • I still have cobwebs on the paint

Hey everyone, a couple of days ago i started using ScratchX on my mom's '00 Impala. I was able to get the lighter scratches/swirls out of the paint but i know that this car will require more work... Either that or a hell of a lot more ScratchX and patience. But i would like some reccommendation on what i should use? I was looking into investing into a DA or a PC but what polish should i use? #80, #82, or #83? I know i need to go to one of the Meg's classes because im new to all this stuff.

I was hoping this car wasn't going to be a lot of work because i was doing it by hand. Now i know i'm gonna need a machine.

Wise choice to go with a machine. There's really no telling for sure what will work with your individual car's paint, but there is a good chance #80 will work. What color Impala is it?

Start off with a DA and always start with the least aggressive product. So you would start with #80 on a test spot and check your results. And I would definately recommend going to a Meg class cause you will learn the proper technique of using a DA. In the meantime search the forum for any questions that you have about paint care.

Investing on a DA will be a wise thing to do.

Like Lydia said, there is no chance to tell if #80 or #83 will work on that vehicle but maybe you could tell us how did ScatchX managed and post pictures (if you have).

Was it easy to remove the scratches?

thanks guys... i'll try to get around to posting pics. I chose to work on this car because it's black and like Barry Meguiar said, it separates the men from the boys when it comes to detailing. I'm looking into attending the march class as that is the next one available
