  • Here is my Meg's List

Hey peeps!! I am new in the detailing world and just bought myself a PC74724....so now deciding to buy this list of Meg's product..

Tell me if this is in wrong order or if the product does not suit the list:

I compose this list to do a detail for my Black Sapphire Peal Lexus which has cobweb swirls pretty much all over the paint.

    Meguiars NXT Gen Car Wash

    Meguiars Pro Detailing Clay

Meguiars Swirl Remover #9 or #82 or #83 (please help me decide this one)

    Meguairs Glaze #3 or #80

    Meguairs NXT 2.0 Wax

I am just confuse mostly with the Megs #9, #82. I don't know what are the difference between them. Which is better at taking out swirls?? Also I know that #83 is a better polish to remove swirls than #9 and #82 but is it "recommended" (as it is more abrasive) for a newbie like me?? (I do not want to risk the paint)

    Thanks in advance guys!!

Make sure you have read those of course.

    1. Wash - Nxt wash is good. Remember 2 buckets, quality towels ,sponges, Grit guards.

    2. Clay - If you get the Pro-Mild Clay, remember you will need to buy the lubricant seperately.

    3. Cleaner/Polsh - #80 would be the go-to product for the PC. Then you can adjust up to #83 or down to #9 as needed.

    4. Polish - Using a pure polish would be optional after a cleaner polish, but #7 is the best.

    5. Wax - Your choice, Nxt 2.0 is good. Remember 2 thin coats.

    6. Maintain - UQD

Re: Here is my Meg's List

      First off, Welcome to MOL!!

So for your washing step, your right on track, great car wash. Remember to use a quality car washing mitt, such as a Microfiber Wash Mitt. Also use quality drying towels such as the Water Magnet® Microfiber Drying Towel.

Clay, great choice, use plenty of lubrication.

For cleaning steps, I would go ahead and start off with #80 and work your way up to #83, only if NEEDED. If #80 does it, then your done with cleaning, move onto wax. If #80 doesn't do the trick, move up to #83, then #80, then wax. Wax, great choice.

Re: Here is my Meg's List

Your list looks good. Now, #82 is slightly more aggressive than #9, and can only be used via PC/Rotary and #83 has much more cut than those two. The best and safest cleaner/polish to start with is #80. Also, ScratchX with a PC works great, it is gentle on your paint but effective.

And by no means don't forget UQD! Alongside NXT 2.0 this is a must.

Re: Here is my Meg's List

thanks for the feedbacks!!! okay, so i decided to go with #80 instead of #9 and UQD after every wash....also for 2 thin coats of wax using the nxt 2.0, i need to let it cure for 12-24 hours before applying the 2nd coat right? Also, what if before applying 2nd coat, there is already dust and other particle (as i need the car for everyday use), do i wash again (using the Nxt Wash) or just spray with ONLY water and straight to the wax??

Re: Here is my Meg's List

12-24 hours is for best looks. 15-20 minutes is fine.

Use a Quick Detailer for removing the light dust. I am not sure, but I would probably use a regular QD or Last Touch, etc, not UQD. I do not know if it would cause any problems, as it leaves a coating behind as well.

And UQD is NOT for claying. So you will need the UQD and a second type of QD anyway.

Re: Here is my Meg's List

The regular QD can be used for dusting and claying. The UQD is best for after washes, or daily maintenance.

As far as how many times, that is hard to say. You are going to get a big block of clay. Then yo uare going to cut it into several pieces, and use each piece on the paint and glass till it is dirty. Then you can retire it to wheels or exhaust, then throw it out. If your car is in good shape, and stays fairly clean, and you dont drop the pieces, you could be looking at 10 clayings or more from that tub.

Honestly, if you are just doing one car, and it is in decent shape, I'd get the Smooth Surface kit, so the clay doesnt dry out on you. Just buy another kit next year. Thats what I do. And get the towel and QD out of it.

Buy some extra QD though either way. Dont want to skimp on using it.

I would go to autodetailingsolutions.com to shop to tell you the truth....
