  • New Cayenne and new member..(long)

    Hi guys..

I'm from Italy, and is two days that i read this GREAT forum...to find to clarify all my troubles..

    Well..

I'm a car lover..and i love to have my car shining...

This thing was easy in the past..becouse my former cars was white, yellow, silver, but not black..

my former 996 Turbo was meridian metallic, silver with strange reflecs.. ..

But....now my car is a Porsche Cayenne S..basalt black metallic.. and take it shining is not easy...

The car is 3 months old..i wash "her" only with hands but first scratches are coming... (yes also becouse i try in all ways to find them..)
And also when you park the car near other cars some stupid people don't take too much care and scrape your car with bags, belt etc..i usually try to park the car away and where there is nothing near, but sometimes is not possible..

At home i had some polish and wax but nothing spectacular becouse in Italy for the most of the people, have a car where you can be reflected is not really important

Now i search on the web and i find a lot of products..but it seems that the most easy to use with great results is Meguiar's..
For this reason,i put down this order

A-2116 Deep Crystal Polish 16 oz.
    A-7200 Hi-pile 100% Cotton Towels 1
E-100E Ultimate Wipe Edgeless Microfiber English
E102E Ultimate Microfiber Wash Mitt English
    E103E Ultimate Drying Cloth English
G-12718 NXT Generation Tech Wax 532 ml
G-12824 NXT Generation Spray Wax 710 ml
    M-9910 Ultimate Wipe 1
    W-0002 Hi-Tech Applicator Pad 2 pads
    A-2516 Soft Wash Gel
    A-1216 Cleaner/Wax
    G-10307 Scratch X
    G-7516 Endurance High Gloss
    A-3316 Quik Detailer
last 5 products is in the enthusiast kit..

I think there is all i need to take care of my car..maybe there is also something exceed but is better to make an order with all that make two orders with double costs of shipping..
But if you guys whant to tell me your advice on a product that i have not order, but is better that i take..tell me....

I tell you that my car stay all the week in a box,and i use it only on week end...i prefer to use products with hands and no with machine..but i have a OB...or a PC maybe?!

Last but not least...i just used some wax non abrasive but the result is not good as said before..

To start with Meguiar's what must i do??i must take off the "old" wax??with what???

Sorry for the time you loose to read my post...
    Thanks
    Ciao

    Hi Super Darius,

    Welcome to Meguiar's Online!

We're glad your finding lots of valuable information on our forum, definitely read through the Detailing 101 Forum, there is a lot of good information in there.

I read through your list of products you're going to order and real quick, if it's not to late, you should order more Ultimate Wipe microfiber polishing cloths.

It looks like you ordered 1, I would suggest ordering more, if possible, the Ultimate Wipe 20-Pack Part number M-9910B.

Here's a couple of reasons why,

Microfiber polishing cloths work great for removing polish an wax while reducing towel inflicted scratches and creating streak-free, high gloss results.

You will really love having a good supply of premium quality microfiber polishing cloths on hand for detailing your Porsche.

Another thing, you need to wash and dry your microfibers together, you don't want to wash them with cotton towels or other garments because they will act like a magnet and attract all the loose and stray fibers. By purchasing a 20 pack, not only will you bring the cost down to $3.50 each, but you will now have enough microfibers on hand to use detailing your can and making a small wash load. (It's hard to run a wash load through your washing machine with only one item).

        Hi Super Darius,

Welcome to join this forum! Which part of Italy are you from? I've been to Rome before and found that the parking space in the city is very limited. It's very hard to park at a place which is safe from scratches/swirls. With all the scooters parking everywhere, they might just scratch your car anytime.

I live near Como/Varese...is not like Rome..but similar...

a big problem find a good parking place..

I usually use "that" car if i know where i'm going..if i'm not sure where i go or if i know there is not a good parking space i take my little Smart ...is a little more easy to park...

In Italy is difficult to see a car that is not scrathed... sad but true...

It is very true that there's hardly any flawless car on the road in Italy.

You're lucky that you still have a Smart to travel around in the city. In my country, a Smart costs EUR30.000! I believe the plastic door could hardly get a dent
