  • Car drying...

I recently bought a MF towel at Target for $8 from thier Vroom line of car products and it works great. Super absorbent. I'll probably buy the water magnet just to try it out.

However, this may sound dumb but i know i'm not the only one that notices that when you dry a car, even with the most absorbent cloth, you still have small traces of water left behind right? i just want to know how many of you use two drying towels. One to soak up most of the water, and a second one to soak up the remaining water.

Yeah, pretty much... 2 or 3 Water Magnets for a well waxed car... I have used a lot more for a car with no wax on it, butthen I dont bother wringing out and all that.

Taking the nozzle off and flowing the water over the car helps take more water off as well.

I always use 2 towels to dry a car. The fist pics up most of the water and the 2nd dries whats left. Sometimes if there is enough water I end up using 3. Once the first towel is to wet to be of any good the 2nd becomes the first and a 3rd is used for the drying part. It has always worked well for me using 2 or 3 depending on the size of the vehicle and how wet it is.

yeah i'm planning on buying more MF for drying... I really liked using that Vroom one that i bought so i may just buy another one. Also, can the ultimate wipe be used for drying? Or is that one for polishing/waxing only? i noticed Meguiars has it listed on thier car drying accessories

I did not think the Ultimate Wipe was for drying... The Supreme Shine certainly isnt.

I do the exact same thing. It works out great and I usually dont have any water left behind at all.

Lately Ive been using the Megs Syn Chamois but I may start using a regular water magnet.

Well I use 3 things. first I take the absorber and dry a section, then I take a marine line water magnet and follow up that section. When I get to the glass, I use the absorber then a regular water magnet. Works great for me.

I like the Meguairs microfiber chamois to get the big chunks off and then use three or so marine water magnets to really dry the surface. I also have a couple of the regular water magnets that are dedicated to door jams and under the hood and trunk......they're a different color so I don't get them mixed up with the paint surface towels. The ultimate wipes you could probably dry the surface with but you'd need about thirty for an average size car (they're kinda small). They sure are great for removing QD and/or LSP from the surface.

so you could use the marine water magnets on your car? do they just call them marine cause of the large size? i'm guessing the tech they used on those are the same for the car water magnets right?

awesome, i'll probably just get myself one of those and an auto one just to do my drying. seeing as i have that other MF towel i'll probably have enough to get through my drying... I knew i should have bought more towels, seeing small streaks on my paint was starting to annoy me.

And that's why, on the sixth day, Meguiars created QD (is its various forms)
