microfibres' leaving fibres behind?

gday all ive just cleaned the glass on my car using NXT glass cleaner and a supreme shine micro, and the micro has left little yellow/white fibres all over the glass. this happened during the spray & spread stage, and i removed them with a cobra microfibre while buffing the glass. does this just mean the supreme shine has had it? its only about a year old, washed after each use and occasionally tumble-dried.

Sometimes you'll see a brand new, out of the package cloth leave some lint, sometimes... but after a microfiber has been washed a few times I don't ever see them linting.

Could something weird of happened to you wiping cloth? Some type of chemical contamination? Battery Acid?

Just don't hear of issues like this ever on the forum. Must be the exception, not the rule. Maybe someone else has had this problem and will chime in.

I purchased some terries when I first started taking care of my car to "dry like the pros." Figured it wasn't the best, but was better than a bath towel.

The shed, always had to once over the car with a cheap microfiber to get it clean.

Just got my first meg's micro today. Lovin it, especially how large it is.

That can happen out of the package.

Only other ways really would be getting some from other towels or the towel is literally falling apart.

its definitely not lint mike, but individual fibres from the cloth. very frustrating trying to get rid of the trail too! no nothing strange has happened to it, just normal use for waxing, polishing, glass cleaning. machine washed separately with liquid (no softener in it and none added to the wash) and tumble dried or air dried. like i said theyre all about a year old, are slightly paler than new but apart from that nothing visually untoward. i suspect as roush said it is falling apart, how long do they usually last with normal use?

I'm actually having the exact same problem as you, 'ozSS'. My Meg's SS microfibers have been leaving fibers/lint behind all over my car. My towels are probably two months old, have been washed at least a dozen times using only liquid detergent, and have been hung to dry (never run through the drier). They appear to be in pristine condition so I'd find it hard to believe they're falling apart. I've been afraid to put them in the drier because my old microfibers got fried by doing that. Maybe running them through the drier will eliminate the lint being left behind, but I'm not sure what temperature settings I should be setting the drier at.

I run my MF towels through the drier at full on heat and haven't had a problem. The only thing I've ever had a problem with drying was the older synthetic wool looking mitts (the name slips me right now). It melted them together in clumps.

i find that as they age this happens,so what i do is saturate the towell with glass cleaner and wipe with this first then use a newer one to dry. i also wash mine in hot and dry on low heat.
