  • Are several coats of wax really needed

I have seen several people that apply two or three coats of wax after cleaning/polishing their cars. Is this really needed?

I just applied one coat to my car last week and it looks fantastic but don't know if i should do one more on top of that. In case that i do, do i need to go thru the cleaning--polishing steps befor applying it of is it just matter of washing the car and applying the wax right after?

The main reason alot of people are appling 2 coats of wax is to ensure even coverage of wax. It is very possible with the first coat that you missed the smallest of areas and on the second coat you covered the missed area with wax, thus providing even coverage of your wax. I believes as Mike Phillips does in that after 3 coats of wax you really are not gaining anything anyway. Give two coats of wax and that is good.

To answer your second question I would say no you don't have to repolish the car since it has only been a week. Wash and dry the car real well and then apply another coat if you feel like it.
