Re: Yet another dealer installed swirl mark - what to do?
looking at ur post makes me feel better bc ur DISO is 10x worst than mine and mine is light grey/dark silver which makes it less obvious..... its so cold outside im lazy to go do something about it yet.... that is why i will never get a black vehicle bc i'd die of OCD and paranoia...

Re: Yet another dealer installed swirl mark - what to do?
I FINALLY got a chance to watch the DVD and work on my truck. The DVD was exactly what I needed. When I got my order of all the pads, bonnets, polishes, waxes, etc. I must admit, I was a bit overwhelmed, like of like one of those, "where do I start?" feelings. After watching the DVD, I was excited to get out and do it myself. And it was EASY! Thanks Mike and Meguiars!
First, I've gone through about 4 different wash mitts over the last two months and the meguiars is the BEST! It holds more soapy water than any others that I've used. I also like that it's white so I can really see any particles in it.
I used the two bucket method. Dried with 3 water magnets. Clayed the hood. Not much claying needed, but it was super smooth afterwards. Maybe took 5 minutes for the entire hood.
I used #80 followed by two coats of NXT 2.0. The NXT is great. I did a small test section with 2.0 and you could see a darker square where I waxed. It really made my black paint darker.
I only did my hood since the pollen is really bad. I was constant having to wipe my work area clean to clear pollen off.
Anyway, here are the pics. Other than the orange peel, it's a mirror finish.

There's lots of problems with trying to help dealerships bring up the quality of work they turn out; suffice to say one of those problems is the turnover rate of the actual people doing the work.

I'm very far from SC, but count with the experience I have to restore that black truck to your expectations. Guess that's a cool thing about Internet and forums: that even though people are not completely present, you can count with their knowledge and expertise.

Re: Yet another dealer installed swirl mark - what to do?
Ok, I ordered the G100 and #80 and NXT 2.0. I'm hoping that #80 will be enough to get out the swirls. I also ordered a bunch of pads, bonnets, the backing plate, etc. Oh, and a clay bar and detailing spray. I basically followed the instructions in the "How To" article for removing swirls with the G100.
I also ordered the DVD.
Hopefully someone can recommend a good detailer in my area, I'd still like to have the truck looked at.
