does wax need to be applied right after polish?

Hi,

This is the first time that i follow meguiar's three step process using the deep crystal system. (Cleaner-Polisher-Wax)

I managed to apply the cleaner and polish today on my car but i had to stop because is already dark outside and will have to leave the wax for tomorrow.

Are there any implications of letting the polish sit on the car overnight waiting for the wax to be applied in the morning?

Polish offers no protection so if it rains it will wash off.

But as long as it stays dry you should be fine.

Just make sure there is nothing on the surface as far as dust dirt etc... before you start.

It's okay to wait till tomorrow to apply the wax but you shouldn't leave a film of polish on the paint overnight. Wipe off the residue and then finish the rest tomorrow.

This forum is great! i tought i wouldn't receive any answer tonight.

Ok, I did wipe off all the polish on my car and used a car cover in order to ensure that it will not collect too much dust during the night.

Would it be ok if I start tomorrow by wiping it with detail spray (to ensure that there is no dust) before waxing or the detail spray will make the polish to wash out?

I would be concerned about the QD wiping the polishing oils off.

Better than waxing in dust, but it would be a shame to waste that polishing step.

Guys, thanks for all your help.

I took the cover of my car this morning and there were no dust so i went ahead and applied the wax.

The results were amazing, the car looks shiny as never before. Is such a pity that my car is white, the final look would be much more noticeable on a darker color, however the look now is incredible!
