I'm in Raleigh and have a Porter Cable polisher, pads, plenty of #80 and #26, and a covered parking spot at my apartment complex with electricity. I am assuming you are in NC based on the front plate.
If you are close enough you could swing by and I could go over the hood and show you the power of a DA polisher.
Be careful though...once you experience it you won't ever be able to do it by hand again.

Is it needed to put a layer of Cleaner wax down followed by a layer of NXT 2.0?

Basically what you're doing when you use a cleaner/wax before any other type of wax or paint protectant is you're using the cleaner/wax like a paint cleaner, for example like ScratchX.

You can put down two coats of a cleaner/wax if the paint is in bad condition and the idea being to really work the first coat for the cleaning ability and if needed, (neglected finish), really work the second coat.

Will the cleaner wax still help going on previous to the NXT?

If you're using it as your paint cleaner you bet it will help.

If paint doesn't need cleaning you might as well go straight to the NXT.
