  • Cleaning your Detailing materials

I was wondering if anyone knows the bast way to wash/clean detailing products such as foam applicators, chamois, SS microfiber towels and the microfiber wash mitt after each use? Is it simply dish soap and water?

Yup that's fine. I put them all in the washer and add a plain liquid detergent no bleach, etc, and no softener! I also throw a dash of dawn in there for good measure. Afterwards, into the dryer as is, no fabric sheets, these alongside the softener will coat the MF towels, mitt and pads and will causes streaking when you use them to detail, ie. when you UQD your car. Hope this helps.

I toss them in the wash (by themselves) then the dryer with NO FABRIC SHEET.

I wash microfiber in hot water & Dawn dish soap then double rinse with distiller white vinegar. For the really bad MF towels I sometimes use a strong degreaser. Then wash with liquid laudry detergent or Dawn. Be sure you rinse microfiber thoroughly.

I recently purchased a special microfiber detergent (rejuvenator?) that seems to work pretty well. It's pretty expensive compared to regular laundry detergent (or dawn) but does seem to clean well and leaves the cloths a little softer. The biggest change I've found is throwing a few dryer balls in with the microfiber towels. The balls really make the towels come out fluffy and soft like new....pretty good stuff.

I stick with the rules no fabric softener, liquid or sheets. No dye or perfumes in the laundry soap. Wash like items only. Same with drying only like items. This method works for me.

I always just use Dawn dish soap... works like a charm, especially getting rid of things like wax.

No liquid? Thought it was no powder? I'm a rookie I could be wrong, but could I get some clarification?

I think he meant no liquid fabric softener. I would not use powdered detergent either.

The dedicated MF cleaner does seem to do a better job than liquid detergent.
The pre-soaking does sound like a good idea too.
