    Does M0716 Remove Wax?

The following was recently posted on a site and no one disputed it at all.
this product has to a degree, cleaning/chemical, or slight abrasive properties, and will (or should) remove wax from the finish.
This goes against everything I have ever thought, heard or read about #7.
Have I been wrong all this time or is this guy putting out bad information?

    Re: Does #7 Remove Wax????

That is a false statement. MG#7 is a pure polish and has no diminishing abrassives in it and does nothing to remove paint from the car.

Just goes to show you can't believe everything you read on a discussion forum.

Remember, when you RUB anything over any kind of surface, for example if your hands are dirty and you get them wet with water and then use one hand to rub the other hand you will to some degree clean the dirt off your hands even if you never had soap in the mix. It's the water and the rubbing action doing the cleaning and no cleaners or abrasives are involved at all.

Heck the Grand Canyon was carved out with water.

#7 is a pure polish, there are no ingredients in this product with the intended purpose to abrade or clean paint, that's a fact. And unless you hear from the chemist that create the formula, anything else you read by someone outside of this company is speculation.

FWIW, it's never worth your time to try to change someone's mind. Regardless of what this person may think, you still can't argue with over 70 years of satisfied customers and great looking paint all from the results from using #7 Show Car Glaze. Some anonymous person posting on a discussion forum in the year 2007 isn't going to undo 70 plus years of legendary success.

Here's some #7 results... (there's NXT Tech Wax on the car too but it was polshed with #80 and #7)

By the way, this 1960 Corvette will be at Meguiar's on January 5th along with this 1966 Batmobile and we'll be applying #7 to both of these cars and the #7 won't be cleaning or abrading the paint on either one of them.

If you use #7 on your car, you're not in good company... you're in GREAT company!

Thanks for the replies. It's nice to be right once in a while.
While I don't truly know the person's intent, I don't think he was bad mouthing the product.
I do think he was giving bad information as to how the product performs and is intended to be used.
I'm not at all interested in trying to change their mind, just wanted to be sure I was correct in my thinking.

I was surprised when the comment was seemingly accepted as a true fact.

            Wow! I never knew that.
I thought the information in the forums was as reliable as the information in the news media. Or maybe it is.

FWIW, I'm very old school. I believe very little of what I read and only 1/2 of what I see.

              Re: Does #7 Remove Wax????

In this field, you get into a lot of gray areas, but people want absolutes for everything. Sometimes the answer is just to play it safe and assume the worst, that is you removed the wax.

Like Mike said, you are rubbing something over the finish, so could it remove the wax..I dunno, maybe.

Same as layering waxes... do you actualy get two layers, or does one remove the other, or mix together... I dunno, maybe.

Will claying actualy remove all the wax, or leave some behind? I dunno, maybe.

All you can do is take the safe approach and assume you should put some wax back on if you want to seal in the #7, or protect after claying, etc.

I have a fresh layer of Tech wax on the truck. I am going to apply my PB Blue next. I wasnt sure if the #7 would strip off the Tech Wax before the PB

                    Re: Does #7 Remove Wax????

One cool thing about forum is that overtime, people that are active on any particular forum share themselves through their posts, all you have to do is pull up their posting history and read their posts and pretty soon you can get a feel for their online personality.

Meguiar's has been around longer than most, in fact since before cars were the norm, so we have our own definitions for products that have been around longer than most competitors have been on the market and even in the game.

Can anyone name a car care product on the market today that's been around longer than Meguiar's? Point being is in the last 100 plus years we've created our own products and the name on the bottle is just that, a name, the real importance is the function of the product and the results you get from using it. There are not standards in this industry for names or terms, everyone kind of forges their own path and as already posted it's never a good idea to try to change people's mind through arguing on a forum.

That's why we've been using this for a signature line since we started posting to the Internet in 1994.
"Find something you like and use it often"

If you find a product you like, then apparently the results look good in your eyes, if you use it often, then your finish will always look great. It's only when you begin to neglect or abuse the finish that it goes down hill.
At the end of the day, what really matters is whether or not you like using a product and what you think of the end-results, not what someone else's opinion is on some discussion forum. Forum are great for getting a variety of opinions on a topic or a product, but there's alway going to be differences of opinion, so sometimes the best thing you can do is to go out into your garage and use the products you're interested in yourself and balance your own experience with the information you gather from places like a discussion forum.

One thing for sure, we like to keep this forum family friendly and we don't tolerate any member bashing another person, product or company, you can find plenty of that on other forums.

We think this thread has run it's course, not sure that any more posts will make it better and better so we're just going to close it, everyone can read my posting history and the posting history of any other member and from the content of the posts you can pretty much determine for yourself where you want to go to get your information.
