  • Detailing

Hey everyone, I'm new to the site and Meguiars products and just have a few general questions about a few detailing products before i start using them in the sping. My first question is, how should i go about washing and cleaning my applicator pads, chamois and supreme shine towels after each use?
My second question relates to ScratchX. My current vehicle is a 2004 silver hyundai tiburon with light swirl marks due to carwashes and different products. I plan on washing the car, then claying, then using scratchX before finally a coat of NXT wax. What is the best technique for applying ScratchX to get the best results?
    Thanks for the help.

    Re: Detailing

-I usually wash my MF's in the washer on HOT water, alittle liquid tide with NO softener, then dry on low heat in the dryer.

-It really depends on what is on the applicator pads. If its just wax then you can wash them with the MF's(I do at least). If its some sort of dressing then I wash those by hand with dawn since I dont want dressing all over my washer.

-For a chamois, you can wash those in a bucket with alittle car wash soap. Dont use much soap at all as it will take for ever to rinse it out. Ring it out and leave the soap in the chamois till you need to dry again, then rinse all the soap out. This helps to keep it softer. Or so Ive thought.

    For the scratch-x:

      Re: Detailing

Wow thats cool I like the car! I have a 07 pearl white hyundai tiburon. I like the car.

      Heres a pic of it:

As far as the detailing goes, heres my routine:

      Wash - Gold Class
      Clay - Smooth clay kit
Cleaner/Scratches - M66, works good for light scratches.
      Sealant - M21
      Wax - M26

I skip the polish step since its white and I probably won't get that much out of a polish on white, but if I were to choose one, I would use #7. Give it a try especially with the M66 for the scratches, you might be satsfied, its like ScratchX but I'm pretty sure its a little more aggressive.

      Have fun.
