  • "The Dealer Treatment"

One more that got the "DEALER TREATMENT". They got a funny way of saying thank you for spending your hard earned Dollar with them.
This was the result after the paint protection was put on.

The Customer was told the lines are a caracteristic of the paint!??????

I wrote a nice letter telling the Dealer how "old" that new car looked to me and what was required to correct the situation. I also offerd to apply the paint protection so the problem would not happen again.
I was given the go ahad to fix the problem but since I am not authorized to apply their paint protection treatment I was only alowed to buff the car without putting any sealer or wax on top.

    Thats better

Hard to believe that anyone could do that to a finish, stand back and think it looks good.

          Re: "The Dealer Treatment"

So seriously, after you buffed it what did you apply as a wax/sealant? And the dealer didn't really believe that after polishing sufficiently to remove the swirls there would be any of their "protection" left, did they??

          Business idea!!!!!

I'm going to develop a paint protection that you apply to the car first, so that the paint is protected from the dealer's antics!!

            Re: "The Dealer Treatment"

I was told by the dealer not to apply any wax or other treatment so they could reapply the paint protection.

And guess what? The customer rang me after picking up the car, asked whether he could come and show me the car?

Yes, as I promissed him, they scratcht it again. Not as bad as the first time but bad enough.

My guess is they use normal cheap rag to take the stuff of. Or to put it more blunt, they simply do not now what they are doing.

Thats funny. "Characteristic of the paint". I think its so sad that "dealers" pass out this info. How sad.

Dealers sure tell customers things that you can't believe. This things has never happened to me but I guess if I were in this situation and someone tells me "that's a characteristic of the paint" I would laugh till I die I guess

You dont think the owner of the dealership is in the back polishing the car? I bet its there detailer!lol did you tell the dealer if he wanted to learn more about polishing paint to contact megs! and just a little info the paint protection usely has a warranty that is provided by the "paint protection company" if you were to do it and they found out it could void any warranty. But i do have to give kudos for the dealer taking a chance with you doing the polishing to please your friend and there customer. I personaly believe that untill theres some sort of education standard for detailers we are going to see this kind of work again and again. go kick there but hehehe.

                      Re: "The Dealer Treatment"

I think we all know that the "paint protection" they sold the customer was nothing more than a synthetic wax! I would have suggested he ask for his money back and just have you apply some NXT or #21.

I can't believe the dealer said it was a characteristic of the paint. What????? They'll say anything to make themselves seem Knowledgeable & make that extra buck.

I also like the fact they said he is not authorized to apply the super-secret-******-polymer-synthetic paint sealant!

OOOooooo he might find out that he spent $800 on some **** wax.

                            Re: "The Dealer Treatment"

Actually, the 'warranty' sealant that is most popular with Dealers is a very nice product, with reasonable durability. The application process advocated by the supplier involves removal as such: "Use a clean terry cloth bonnet with an orbital polisher to remove hazed paint protection at the point you began application."

Well, I can mar a paint job with any terry cloth product, and surely with a bonnet that has been laying around the dealer's 'cleanup shop'!

In this case it is not the product (or the warranty), but rather the level of skill and concern at the Dealership.

Happens everyday, all across the country.
                            And it won't change.
