  • "Magic Sponge"

Someone suggested I use a Mr. Clean Magic sponge on my 1976 Cadillac Coupe Deville's WHITE padded roof covering. The car has never seen snow or rain and is kept garaged and covered, yet the top needs some cleaning. My worry is if I use the sponge, it will cause the smooth "finished" surface to be dulled and open to the elements. It would require some conditioner after the use of the sponge or even a sealer. Does anyone here know if Meguiars offers such an item?

You could use a cleaner like #39 Rubber and Vinyl Cleaner and a soft brush or terry cloth instead? Then follow up with #40 for protection.

Or just use #40, it has some mild cleaners in it.

I wouldnt use the MC sponge.

A mild APC that is diluted would probably work out great. Follow that with some protectant such as #40 or natural shine and it should look like new.

            What is an APC...sorry?!

The magic sponge tends to clean everything...yet sort of strip the surface of its top layer. I DO NOT want to do this and leave my top exposed!!

You could clean it really good by using 39 followed by 40.

Will this give a lasting shine that holds up to the weather? The top still has its original "shine" seeing that it was rarely driven and seldom parked in the sun.

#40 isnt the glossiest product. All-Season Dressing is quite glossy, I guess depends on which look you want.

Hyper-Dressing isnt quite as durable, but you can dilute it to change the glossiness to match what you like.
