  • Your Detailing Routine

Hello. I am new to the forum and figured I'd start with something basic. I've been detailing my black Firebird for a long time now with consumer products with great results. The car is nearly ten years old ('98) and has a few swirls and blemishes here and there, so I decided I could make it even better.

I want to use some professional formulas with a random orbital (as a kind of project with my uncle who is definitely experienced using the device).

I was wondering what your routine might be (as far as what products you would select) to polish light swirls or blemishes before applying my usual wax. I was considering the # 80, 82, 83, and/or #9; there are so many. This is a black car, so I am being extra cautious. What do you recommend? I would appreciate any advice.

    Thanks in advance.

Well, I don't like to reccommend the use of an orbital and #83. I believe that the orbital can't really break down properly.

For the problem areas, I would use ScratchX by hand.

For the whole car, I would use #80. That's always a good starting point plus it is able to be used with an orbital. I would then follow it up with #9 to remove the tiniest of swirls. After that, a nice coat of #7 will make your mouth drop!!! The protectant is your choice, but #26 looks great on black. NXT, GC, and #21 will also look great.

Remember to use the proper bonnets and you should be fine.
    Good Luck!

Thanks, Porsche! That looks exactly like what I hope to do.
