  • Polishing the nooks and crannies

For the guys and girls out there who are into machine polishing...

What do you when you get to the tight spots where your buffer won't fit?

I suppose that the tight spots would be less prone to swirls and defects but would still suffer from fading, oxidation etc. Maybe defects in these areas aren't as prominent as the areas that allow good machine access? ie larger expanses of panelwork etc...

So do you just get in there and polish by hand or what?

By hand is the only way to do it. Just use a foam applicator or whatever you prefer.

By the way, that picture of a Ute is awesome. Is that yours?

Do you find that you can notice the difference between the hand polished vs machine polished areas?

Thanks, that sure is my ute. It is from the same family as our Monaro, which you would know as a Pontiac GTO...

No, not really. If you think about it, the hand polished areas are hard to get to for everthing, not just yourself. If there is a scratch, then you can work it with scratchX or something like that, but the potential is limited due to the miniscule working area. So typically they aren't as damaged with the exception of inside the door handles.

Oh believe me, I know the Pontiac GTO and I LOOOOOVE Holden's! That new Commodore SS is sweet. Soon to be a G8, but not as cool and with fewer options. You Aussies are big on the muscle.....im so jealous.
