  • Easy bug cleanup on fifth wheel front cap

OK...here's a problem faced by virtually all RV owners, but I still haven't found the best resolution to it. Hopefully someone here can point me in the right direction for a product (wax/synthtic?) that I can polish the front of my fifth wheel with to make smashed bug removal a lot easier.

We are talking a BIG white gelcoat fiberglass area about 8ft wide by 6 feet high that I collect hundreds of smashed bugs on, sometimes daily. This is a monumental cleanup job that has to be done usually without a hose, but rather a spray bottle and rags every few days, from a small ladder placed in the bed of my truck.

The ideal product would be one that is hard enough or slippery enough to allow easy bug removal, and allow use of another mild product that will not remove the original wax/synthetic coating.

Is there such a product(s) that would fill my needs?

BTW, I have just finished compounding and using a micropolish/sealant by Gelcoat Labs on this front cap. Iam on the verge of trying Rain-X Fast Wax on this problem, but was hoping for a better solution.

Any and all advice and/or experiences appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Joe

Ive decided to try one of the new synthetic polymer paste waxes. The slippery surface it makes should go a long way toward getting bug release when I do cleanups with a mild cleaner. Then using a matched detailing spray to re-wax the surface should get me back to original finish without too much extra work.

      Thanks,
      Joe
