  • Rookie?

When you wax the hood of a vehicle why does it look like I don't get all the wax off. When I look at it at an angle its all off, but looking at it head on it doesn't look right. What am I doing wrong?

Are you letting it dry completly, not applying too thick? You may be seeing smearing from one of those two problems.

The next possibility would be that the paint isnt prepped well, and you may need to do some of the claying, cleaning, polishing steps to get best reults.

I use the meguiar's 3 step. Maybe, I am putting on to thick. Are there any other reasons why it would look like that? What do you mean by smeaing?

Like a smeary film of wax left where you tried to remove it. Not really sure how else to describe it... maybe someone can help...

I'll take a stab at it...does the paint look hazy or cloudy, after you remove it?

If so, try using Quik Detailer to remove it, and if that doesn't work....um....I don't know what is wrong.

Try that and see what happens...probably applied to much, like Murr said.

I assume you're using a good microfiber towel to do the removal, or the microfiber bonnets on the polisher.

Im willing to bet its a combination of not properly prepping the paint and using to much product.

Thanks for the help. I'm going to do my truck tomorrow. I will prep better and use less wax. Here's some pics. I will put up some when she gets finished tomorrow.
